This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Tracy...you do not sound like a shitty step mom at all....I feel your pain. I know that my dh does things to try and "make it up" to his kids that dont live with him, and im like hellloooooo what about the one that is here??

I loooooove him!!!!! He is truly the best! lol

I went to a young boy tonight that was really cool. I can give you a tip on cashiers if you ever go to the bridgeton t!
I have only been to bridgeton a few times, but the male cashier with the high afro (spelling?) is really tough on coupons. He didn't want to take my glade coupons at all and he only scanned part of them, but still kept them. I was like ok give me my coupons back then, and he was like no I have to put them in the drawer. I was like no you didn't, you didn't scan them, so give them back. He didn't want to, was pissed, but he did. Why in hell would he want to keep my coupons he didn't even scan. Then he tried the same thing with some other coupons.

Acted like he scanned them, when he did not. I watch my screen. I told him give them back I will take them to customer service and get them scanned there. I know the Indian couple behind me thought I was cheap as hell, as my total was so low anyway. I could hear them gasping and whispering in line and after I left to go to customer service.

Then to top it off on the way to the service desk, looking at my receipt, I realized he hadn't scanned another of the glade coupons I gave him, but he had put them in his drawer. I went back and demanded it, and the Indian couple had a shocked look on their faces. Wth, why should he keep my unscanned coupon. I guess they were rich and above using coupons that the poor use. Confused

Anyway I went to the service desk and got refunded on my coupons. On the way out I see the Indian couple looking at the cash in my hand and whispering and pointing. If I wanted to pay full price I wouldn't shop at Target so they can kiss my grits!

Oh interesting, I didn't use one yet, but I did try to scan the larger version and it scanned fine for me. I actually tested it at the scanner in Cave Springs. I thought I would save mine for the after Christmas sale, when I would be buying home stuff I guess (Christmas home stuff that is).

*it's beginning to look a lot like snip-mas....*
Why wait?

After all, almost everything you buy goes into your home, right? Unless it's something meant for the garage or something, and even then, if the garage is attached, I think the salient argument can be made that the garage is actually a part of your home also. Of course, lawn ornaments and patio furniture might be stretching it a bit, but if they would just word the coupon to read "homestead" instead of home, you'd have it made!

Granted, the electronics coupon would be harder to use as freely, but Target sells ALOT of things with cords and plugs...or that work on batteries.

Semantics, schemantics...registers don't nitpick.

This is true, but I just couldn't find anything to buy that night and was in a hurry. I had $35 in my cart and I should have just bought anything to bring my total to $50. Spent another $15 to save $10. Oh well my purchases were almost free anyway with my coupons that night. I will probably use this coupon tomorrow at one of the T's in the area.

I am so sorry that everyone is having such a horrible day. Hopefully, this is the last of the bad stuff before the holidays. I always appreciate the wonderful deals posted and the coupons that help every budget. It makes a difference every month and I can't imagine shopping any other way.

Below is a little video that hubby shared with me and I hope it lifts your spirits as it did mine. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May the new year be kinder to us all. Smilie

Warning - major multi quoting ahead!
Quote from Jen2882 :

I'm just really fed up with his family treating my daughter and step sons like second rate citizens and I'm really not sure how much I want to go out of my way this year. I'm just so frustrated I want to say screw it and say we only bought for the kids this year.
I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this. Strange how sometimes adults are more childish then children!

Quote from imnotanasshat :
nod

That's EXACTLY what I would do...tell them you just couldn't afford to buy for the adults this year (they'll understand, I'm sure), and leave it at that.

Or, give the adults shampoo and conditioner...heh heh. Or movie tickets...

Seriously, sorry you have to deal with this during the holidays; inlaws can be a royal pain in the ass, I know!
Iagree

Quote from plgffl :
*snip*

Okay, I will post about my target run.

So if you have read this, I am sorry for being so long-winded! I do not really have any other Target's near my house. The next one is about 100ish miles away (depending on which route, its between 100-120 miles) and I cannot drive there that often. This one was just over an hour and was feasible to drive to during the week while DD was in school.
*snip*
I am so sorry! That just super sucks! Really, you'd think that in this economy she would be more concerned about her job and Target as a whole would be more concerned about losing customers to other stores!

Quote from Jen2882 :
Ugh, today has just been such a "stellar" day. Mad

I told dh that I just didn't think it was right for us to buy presents for his sisters, when they can't be bothered to buy presents for our kids. (but will buy presents for the other nieces and nephews) and he said some crap about being the better person and he was tired of hearing about it bla bla bla....I kind of tuned out and went in the other room and had a little fit.

I feel like stomping my feet and screaming right now!!!
Fine, if he wants them to have presents, I'd let him take care of getting them presents. Dh has done this type of thing before and even did it again yesterday - he added someone that I'm not fond of to the Christmas list. I told him fine but he was doing it all himself. I guarantee you it will NOT get done and that person will not be getting a gift from us.

Quote from Jen2882 :
Here's a thought....do NOT call target guest service. Call their corporate office at 612-304-6073. See if you can get through to their human resources dept...or if you have to call guest service ask that human resources call you back. Often issues are not brought to the attention of corporate (we try to take care of all guest complaints...believe me you dont want them escalated to corporate) I guarantee you will get more of a result that way.
Great idea!

I find it so interesting how I've seen people on here calling themselves a Hot Mess. Where I'm from being called a Hot Mess is very insulting! EEK!

I guess it is just a difference in cultures, but it's taking me a while to get used to. Coverlaugh

Me too. I actually (and this really shows my edu./prof. background, LMAO) went to http://www.urbandictionary.com to look it up 'cause I thought I must be confused about what it meant.

But, no. Rofl2

Hey you! Wave Tried the GC thing last night and the register won't allow the ECB to be scanned. Bummer!

Didn't think of buying and returning. It's all good, I just bought some stocking stuffers and other junk I needed.

Jen, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. I agree with Ariel...F them all. Buy only for the kids, it's not their fault their parents are a**holes.

WOW!!! I think I'm speechless. Wait, no I'm not. laugh out loud

Do not settle for some lousy $3 apology coupons. Keep calling until you have spoken to someone at the top. That corporation owes you a huge apology and then some. If you have a lawyer, I'd even go as far as him writing a letter. Noone deserves to be spoken to like that over a damn coupon.

After a few bottles of wine the other night, my best friends and I started in with the Urban Dictionary LMAO Our favorite new saying is "Butt hurt"....cracks us up Wink

btw, Hot Mess and Hussy both crack me up. I knew Hussy had a negative meaning, but has become just a funny now Wink Hot mess was a mystery to me until Thrifty and Teri started using it laugh out loud
