This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Since you all have been so helpful today...I have two more questions:

We have an employee who's a freshman in college. His entire family has pretty much abandoned him so he's on his own at 18. He's staying with a friends family for the entire 3 weeks he's in town from college and they bought him presents and everything. I slipped him some passes to give to them as a thank you! I'm going to put a care basket together for him. One of the other manager's said he would split the cost of the basket and a set of towels with me and I'm gonna throw in shampoo, toothpaste, body wash, pens, notebooks, deodorant.....anyone got idea's on what else i can put in there for a college kid on his own?

I am also putting gift bags together for all of the associate managers....the girls i have covered. But I need something for the boys. What is a smallish, but useful gift for like 8 guys that I could get at T? I had thought nice notepad sets, or gloves or something?
Poor guy...it's tough to be on your own with no family support. I had a similar experience while away at college and so can relate. I think a laundry basket would be great along with some laundry detergent. The other items you have are great too! You are such a sweetheart! heart

Hmm...not sure what to get the guys for the gift bags. I wouldn't think notepad sets would be appreciated by the guys... Scratchchin Gloves might work. Or maybe something car related...keychain with a light or flashlights? Dontknow Good luck!!

You are so doggone sweet, Jen!! The college girl across the street has taken some of my paper plates and Clorox Wipes and Windex (multi purpose for both mirrors/glass and other icky stuff) stash for her dorm.

As for the guys at work, probably gloves or something - notepad sets? Probably not - maybe some Axe Bodywash Giftsets if they're cheap enough (I'm sorry, I really don't know how much they are, maybe on clearance?) - Have fun with it!

Ladies (and a gentlemen lol),

I need some help. Ok, so I was just talking to my mom and apparently my father's parents were supposed to take my nephew to disneyland or disneyworld, one of the two not sure, well they cancelled saying they couldn't "afford" it. Well apparently they went and just took some other grandchildren. So of course my nephew is super dissapointed.

I know it's not something I'm going to be able to do over night, but I would like to make this trip happen for my nephew. My sister has been out of work for awhile and her dh does construction so in the winter money is really tight, but I think if i got some marriot and southwest gc's I could make a dent in the cost of the trip.....do any of you have any advice on how to make this more affordable and possible??
I suggest you try renting a timeshare.... or for a really cheap stay, do the timeshare tour and get a few days really cheaply! If you know someone who has a time share ask them for their timeshare magazine, or go on ebay and see the cheap stays there. I know there are LOTS in Orlando.Smilie

You have way more guts than me. I would only post a hot deal in the chat thread. I would be scared of being ripped to shreds.

I was going to suggest laundry soap and a roll of quarters, razors, snacks, coffee.

And I just wanted to say that you are a total sweetie. I hope Santa was good to you this year, since you're being so nice to everyone else!

Thank you all for all of the nice words, but I'm really just trying to restore a little faith in humanity in a kid that desperately needs it. He has been treated like dirt by his family all of his life and he needs to know that not all people are like that.

I was blessed with a great family, and dealing with in-laws etc...has really made me realize that and appreciate it. My mommy rawks lol
