This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

just got back from a terrible terrible shopping trip. I am so upset!!! I was trying to buy about 25 tubes of colgate toothpaste, ravyoc, trash can, shoes, etc.
I has coupons for every tube of toothpaste, 1 target and 1 manu, 10/50 target Q and 5 of the batteries. Yound dumb cashier gets nervous because he was scanning to many, called the manager (same one I complained about for being rude and smart assy and for not understanding the one per transcation/purchase rule) He comes over and says, yeah we could only accept one coupon for the entire order. blah, blah , I am on the phone with corp and they agree with me, I call the manager over and corp. explains to him the policy BUT wait!! manager changes story, he says I am buying to many, I am buying over 50 and that is not the right size for my family. He hands the phone to me and corp says I am now buying to many and the store has a right to limit how many I purchase. so he takes my cart away, will not return my coupons, embarasses me in front of t he store, like I am trying to steal and take off with the cart. I am RED! and I hear him on the phone with security or something. I was not loud but I did call him a dumbass rude ass because he said have a nice day in a sarcastic tone.
So now I am calling the district office and hopefully get my coupons back and file a complaint. any other suggestions? I am beyond staying under the radar.......... I could care less. I just want to walk in the store and not be looked down upon because I use coupons. much less using target coupons at the target store!!
And the ass said that the reason they accept coupons was to try the item, like a sample. I said, no they are to save money and he got all rude and said nope, it is to sample a item

I think a way to avoid all of this is to not "buy" more than 5 of things at a time especially if you are getting overage or getting them for free. It pretty much throws up red flags IMO

Why would you be buying 25 tubes of toothpaste? How many teeth do you have?

Toothpaste sells very well at Garage Sales. OP also could have just been checking it off their list of staples for the year. Now it is out of the budget for the rest of 2009. Or they could be donating it. I dropped off 50 packs from my stock pile last week for residents of a building fire. Everything was a total loss for them. I almost had enough for each unit to get a tube.

Yes, I know that toothpaste sells well at garage sales. But buying that much at one time of any item raises a red flag, and you can expect to get turned away, like OP did. Even you can agree with that: LINKY

I agree with everyone else. Limit your orders to a few things.

Some things are a good deal but make another trip *(heck throw on another jacket and go back in)*

I donate them to a local non profit, my family, neighbors, and I like not having to struggle to buy it. about 2 years ago we were not doing well at all and it was a struggle buying. I just figured that they were on clearance and the coupons were from target, why would they NOT accept them?? I kinds see your points but I am just thinking that I am a customer that wants to buy tons of toothpaste and why does it matter how many I buy?
I just do not think it is ok for the manager to be an ass and change his story to corp. Just because I have coupons does not mean I could be treated this way.

First of all, The 10 off 50 is for Home Purchases. It's a stretch to connect toothpaste and batteries to home goods, as those are health and beauty and electronics. If it were me (which I wouldn't have been buying that quantity), I would have said ok, and chalked it up. Or I would have asked him how many I could use, and then used the others later, or at a different store. Arguing back and forth only insures that the staff will remember you, and your runs will be scrutinized every time you shop. Using coupons at Target isn't a 'right', its a priviledge. One day they may just stop. Each manager is different as is each situation.

Side Note:
Also, all the donation and shelter talk is well and good, but just because someone donates doesn't mean they need to clean the shelves of items for donations. I am able to donate alot, just on what I accumulate normally. And to be honest, I get a little tired of reading about shelter donations in so many posts (I work with homeless vets, yet I don't see the need to post about it at every turn)

Are the toothpastes on clearance for $1.24 and you were using both the manu. and TQs? I can see them having a problem with that since you'd be getting major overages. Just using the manu. Q you'd get overages but I think if you add in the TQ it just adds another red flag. I don't disagree with getting that many....I just think I'd do smaller runs like someone else suggested and I wouldn't throw in the TQ. I think too many beeping Qs will throw a cashier over the edge. They still might say no (I've had two cashiers and managers say no) but just try again. Throw three or four in one order and get something else to cover overages.
