All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! Dear Valued Customer,

We received great news from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), clarifying the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act that goes into effect on February 10, 2009. From the statement -

"The new law requires that domestic manufacturers and importers certify that children's products made after February 10 meet all the new safety standards and the lead ban. Sellers of used children's products, such as thrift stores and consignment stores, are not required to certify that those products meet the new lead limits, phthalates standard or new toy standards."

"The new safety law does not require resellers to test children's products in inventory for compliance with the lead limit before they are sold. However, resellers cannot sell children's products that exceed the lead limit and therefore should avoid products that are likely to have lead content... Those resellers that do sell products in violation of the new limits could face civil and/or criminal penalties."

We always have been and will continue to be committed to buying & selling product that meets the standards supplied to us by the CPSC. To continue to ensure the safety of your children, we will not buy or sell items noted in the statement -

"recalled children's products, children's products that will contain lead such as children's jewelry, painted wooden or metal toys, flimsily made toys that are easily breakable into small parts and dolls and stuffed toys that have buttons, eyes, noses or other small parts that are not securely fastened and could present a choking hazard for young children. "

We are thrilled that we will be continuing to provide you with an outlet to buy quality, safe, gently used children's merchandise. We are also committed to providing to you an opportunity to get cash for children's items you no longer need, and the ability to trade for items you do need.

We are committed to buying & selling product that meets these standards, and as we always have, we will continue to closely monitor CPSC recalls and advisories.

Does anyone know targets return policy with an open defective electronic item?

I have a Belkin fm tuner for use w my ipod touch in the car. It doesnt work, only used it 3 times. I am sure I have the reciept somewhere.

The thing that ticks me off is that my dh never, ever throws anything away, and he thinks he did, uggghh

I will try and find the box. I actually dont even want another one, just want a gc back, it is such a piece of junk.
I remember a person in electronics telling me they take back all sorts of things for the shelf price/last price of the product. The cashier was telling me they accepted back a phone that was clearly used, missing the box, some wires - well, basically just the handset and the base and the customer got their money back. She seemed to think the phone was a couple of years old. So, I would guess that you could bring it back without the receipt and box and they should give you credit for it (or the shelf price/latest price). I've never tried this myself, and they do have the limit of two (I think ?) no receipt returns a year? Good luck!

nod They had a story on the news tonight clarifying that this law is intended for manufacturers not thrift or consignment stores.

Quote from frazzled4 :
She came back in today.

The receptionist called me 4 times to "remind" me she was there. I did a few things, made a few calls, checked out SD, made a few more calls. She showed up at 8:35 for a 9:00 interview, I went and got her at 9:58, we had the conference room all set up for her.

I had my tote of razors, and THE receipt.

It was right in front of where I sat her down, she moved it.

My boss (TOTAL comedian) let me meet with her first.

He then comes in.....starts asking coupon questions. I tell him, "perhaps you should ask her, she worked at Target and should know something about them." (This was rehearsed of course)

He then asks her "can you tell me why some cashiers give my 85 year old mother a hard time when she is using coupons? She has lots of coupons and sometimes wants to buy a lot of what she has coupons for."

Her answer.......are you ready for this??????

"I think coupons are wonderful, I always encouraged my customers to use as many as they had, and I sometimes pointed out to them that they could go over to the Kiosk and print the Target coupons to go along with their paper coupons and save even more money, at Target we were trained that the TQ can be stacked with the mfg ones unless there is a limit stated in the ad"

I am ready to scratch her eyes out at this point.

I calmly point to the tote of razors, tell her that I got them at T

She still has a blank stare, NO clue

total silence

My boss then says "So you are a firm believer in customer service? That is very important here at xxxxxxxxx, (We are a corporate office, not a retailer).

She emphatically responds "Oh yes!, my record at Target was without flaw"

My boss looked at me and said "What do you think? Should we hire her?"

I respond with "Sure, let's give her a chance"

So we are.....More to come

(Did I mention that I THRIVE on revenge???? AND YES she will report to meBig Grin )
Ok, *if* this story truly happened I most certainly would not document it in detail online in any way shape or form.

I work for an organization that supports labor relations/human resources on behalf of management (public sector) so I would say I know quite a bit about labor laws.

You & your boss could have some major legal issues if you decide to hire this person with the intent of *revenge*...just sayin

Good thing you've got lots of kotex to help with that Rofl2

I posted this in deals as well, but I had the larger "soft" packs of huggies wipes ring up INF for me today. They are the 320 count (I think) and are the unscented / hypoallergenic ones. They are usually $8.99 at my stores...

Happy Friday everyone!

Does anyone want a free 1-yr. subscription to "Woman's Day", "SELF", or "Forbes"? Got new offers from Rewards Gold in my email, so thought I'd share the links here. I've signed up for lots of magazines from them, I'm never spammed and have never received a bill. It's legit. You do have to fill out a survey type form, but it goes fast.

Thanks, Cate!! RG never sends me any "good" links-- they are all for mags I have no interest in. I heart SELF though, and was looking for a way to renew pretty soon.

I'm actually really disturbed by this. You are going to hire and torment someone because they gave you a hard time about coupons AT LEAST 6 months ago? I know T hasn't had a razor gc in at least a month. You yourself in one the threads said these are crazy economic times and you are going to mess with someone's job, their means of supporting themselves, to get revenge? OVER COUPONS???

And you work in HR? That's completely wrong, and a total abuse of your position.

And I'm *really* tired of people who b*tch about cashiers but can not understand the concept of moderation. Yes, I'm referring to you going back and doing the razor deal 20 times. And yes I went back and read your old posts b/c it's 1:00 am, my kid is sick and won't sleep, and I wanted to see what sort of person really feels the need to act like this.

My recommendation to you is prompt psychiatric treatment. You've clearly got issues - and if you do go ahead and hire this person they will only get worse when she realizes what a worm you are and sues your dumb ass (and your boss and the organization). This isn't *funny*, it's *sick*. Do you torture kittens and puppies too?
