However, it should be noted that the width is 15.7", which is technically over the 22x14x9" carry-on limit for the big domestic airlines. Having said that, 99.9% of the time, you won't have a problem getting this on your flight
Also, the total capacity is less than the eBag mother-lode bag (which I have and love). After discount and cashback, it is often under this price...
This is a really fantastic bag for this price. Sized for maximum carry on capacity, light and durable. Small was near the maximum for under-the-seat, but they don't make it any more :-( Serviceable backpack straps, but the included duffel bag strap is pretty bad. A bag this flexible really doesn't work well with a duffel strap anyways unless it's completely stuffed full.
Very durable, one of the end pockets is water resistant (proof?) and sized for (dirty) shoes. Depending on how you're treating it, you might want additional padding if you add a laptop. The laptop compartment holds a 17" Macbook Pro, but really isn't designed for thicker laptops - they'll fit, but 'bulge' out and have less protection.

Porter the one to beat
I don't need another backpack, I need a duffel that can double as one. Or be a duffel. Porter seems to be mostly backpack to me.

Ah ok thanks. Purchase averted
Same here. Only con is if you're packing clothes you don't want wrinkled. Still, love this bag.

Haven't used the Transporter, but Osprey makes great gear - looks like the Transporter has better straps (sternum strap) and the smaller Transporters have a duffel strap, which I'm willing to bet is way better than that on the Wingman.
The Wingman has more usable compartments - for my only bag traveling by plane/public transport/walking, the shoe compartment is really useful. The Transporter looks like more of an 'outdoorsy' bag - throw in the car as a daypack or something, don't need to throw your dirty shoes in the bag when you're done with your hike.
Is this too big as a carry-on for budget airlines like RyanAir? I had the medium size and it was too small for a 2-day trip.
