I saw the this a few mins ago and I dont think it's a horrible deal.

The case is one of the better looking and might even work aesthetically as a HTPC.

The Nvidia 1060 3gb is $299 by itself, IF you can catch one in stock on Nvidia's web store.

The only downside is its refurb. Still, a TU for you, OP.

Nice looking case but identical specced HP was $500 from Walmart during BF 2017... eternally spoiled by that performance/price point >_>

With parts picker you get premium retail parts. Are hp parts standard like PS mb case ?
I'd say you can't really compare... Plus technically these are refurbed vs new so it should be a lot cheaper

This is a good deal but not great. I agree with the sentiment of a few others here I think its priced about $100 too high for the GFX card thats in it, if it was the more RAM version would be more acceptable. Also almost all the parts inside this thing will be custom made for HP parts to fit the form factor.

Id say it's an ok deal if you absolutely need it now for some reason. Not a SD.

so tempting but i would want a 1060 6gb at least :/

decisions ..decisions

Realistically there's about a 5-10% performance difference between the two 1060s . I have hit 0 vram issues gaming at 1080p with the 3gb and have been able to hit 60 fps on every modern game I've tried at high/ultra. Even in the future you're much more likely to run into issues with the 1060s lack of power before lack of Vram if you're curious there's some really good YouTube videos that highlight the slight differences.

That seems redunculous. A year ago I paid $200 for a 6GB 1060 (open box but new at Microcenter, was only $30 off MSRP) and just a month or so ago I bought 2 1070tTIs for $440 each. Not saying its wrong, but just crazy. I'd take a 1070TI over any 1060 for a $40 difference, tho now I'm sure those 1070s would be like $600+

I know Microcenter changed their policy in mid-Jan to one sku per person per day on GPUs and the site has crazy markup, but if you go in store the price is closer to what it should be. Not sure about other sites (newegg, bestbuy...)

but then I see this 1080 for $590 [bestbuy.com]

What's a better gaming machine in this price range? A friend of mine is eager to buy and willing to buy a machine with these specs priced at $800. GPU prices make options pretty thin.
