Amazon has been doing this for probably the last 6-8 months. The titles do change from time to time.

And these big-budget mainstream studio fat cats suffer almost no more investment printing UHD discs compared to Blu-Rays. We should be paying 10% more, tops, for 4K resolution that is the only kind of television set being sold today anyway.

They killed 3D and now they're killing UHD because of short-sighted, dumbass greed.

It is a good deal, and the fact that it keeps getting posted means plenty of people don't know about it. It's not really a bad thing.

The only time I recall seeing any $9.99 UHD discs was Black Friday. Most of us prefer to buy our movies more than once a year. For those people, this is one of the better deals, especially since it's available all the time. I've taken advantage of it many times over the past ~6 months and gotten a lot of movies that I was looking forward to seeing. I keep a pretty close eye out for deals on 4K discs and there is not a single once I've purchased that I've seen for under $16 elsewhere.

Is Pacific Rim any good? Worth $17?

Absolutely.

Pacific Rim is my go to reference disc, as well as my prime example for why the "fake 4k" argument is bullshit. This movie looks absolutely stunning, and HDR takes it to the next level. It's pretty generic on a story and acting level, but if you're looking for something for pure visual splendor, Pacific Rim is as good as it gets.

Sicario recently dropped to $14.99 on Amazon. I picked one up. That is a great movie and is 3.4K or almost true 4K according to real or fake 4k website. I havent seen any good true 4K or 3.4K movies go on sale for $9.99. Maybe 2K converted movies at that price.

Thank you?

$9.99 for a 4K Blu is a damn good deal, and you know as well as I do they don't come around at that price very often. For someone who frequently watches movies, $16 a piece is a good price when they typically cost $25-$30 at normal retail. If that's not a good enough price to satisfy your needs, that's good for you, but it still doesn't make it a bad deal for others.

I may be in the minority here (in fact based on other threads I'm almost sure of it), but I pay absolutely zero mind to what resolution a movie was finished at. I don't check, and I don't care, it's not a factor in making a purchase.

To me, the bump to 4K resolution is not what makes 4K movies worth buying. It's all about HDR. A 2K DI still has a significant improvement over it's blu-ray counterpart in my eyes because of HDR. If I had a Non-HDR 4K TV, my opinion might be different, but I think people get too worked up over the "fake 4k" crap. See my post above, Pacific Rim is the best looking movie i've found (not counting PEII/BPII), and it's "fake 4k".
