You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

I'll have to wait for their decision. Maybe because I opened their AARP card just a few weeks ago? Funny thing is that I really need a new business card, since I'm tired of my business AMEX.

Your #3 response regarding using the card for personal spend is your opinion and not an official stance by Chase. When you apply for the card, you certify that "This is a business account which shall be used only for business purposes and not personal, family or household purposes."
Hence: "Yes, realistically you can use the card for whatever mix of personal and business spending that you like". Literally hundreds of people have reported opening Chase business cards over the past few years and using them for part or all personal purposes. No reports of Chase ever raising a stink. Again, "Realistically..." is not referring to policy, but lived experiences over thousands of cardholder-years.

Depends what you mean by "best"

Highest value will be transferring to airlines for first class airfare- you can often get 8-10 cents per point for that (meaning 50,000 points is worth as much as maybe $5000)

Next highest is same thing for business class- where 4-6 cents isn't uncommon, so 50k points might be worth $2500ish

After that- and probably the most "efficient" way- would be transferring to airlines for coach fares... this is more in the 1.5-2.5 cent a point range typically... (though if you had a southwest companion pass it'd be over 3 cents a point since you can effectively get 2 tickets out of each ticket)

There's some transfers to Hyatt for hotel bookings that can also get a bit north of 2 cents a point (but many that don't).

After those options you're looking at either 1.5 cents a point for any travel (hotel, rental car, airfare, whatever) booked via the chase portal if you also hold a Chase Sapphire Reserve.... or 1.25 cents using same method holding one of the "lesser" annual-fee chase cards like CSP.

And then after THAT is just using them at 1 cent a point for statement credits- which is the "best" option for people who never travel, but sucks compared to the others for those who do.

I was approved for a the Ink Preferred card about 2 months ago. Any ideas if that will hurt my chances of getting approved for the Ink Cash?

CIP needs min $5k limit -- CIC needs min $3k limit

You should be fine if you haven't had any Chase apps in past 30 days and you're still under 5/24

If your CIP limit is high then you can lower it a few days or a week before applying for CIC otherwise you might have to deal with recon

The question you responded to was can you use this card for personal spend. The official Chase stance is no you can't. You left out that tidbit of information and gave a "from my perspective you can do whatever you want" response. You presented a half truth and got called for it.

And please, quoting "thousands of cardholder-years" is ridiculous. I guess in your eyes if you read it online it must be true. Share your own experience but don't quote randomness you found on the internet.

did you get denied cause you called? Or was it an instant denial?

I am not sure if I called it would help me or hurt me. What did they say when you asked?

I got the 30 day wait. Then I called and they tried to approve, but could not verify my name as a business. So they want paper work that proves it's a business.

I filled everything out the same way as I do in the past for Business credit cards.

My response was pretty clear, sorry/not sorry if that offends you. Not sure what you are even doing here, since this thread, and SD in general, is basically doing nothing but creating randomness on the internet... And randomness that might not always strictly follow every word and perceived intent of a company's policies nonetheless.

Oh I wasn't offended, but I did want to provide accurate information to the person you responded to. You can be bitter about getting called out and that's fine.

Had you initially responded with Chase's policy is ABC but my experience has been XYZ then you would be fine. However, you didn't do that, so I corrected you.

"Yes" is the correct answer.

No one asked what Chase's official stance was.
