You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

Follow the flowchart.

if you're getting 7-10 days you need to call the recon line.

Signed up for this card about a week earlier, before the $500 promo.

Sent multiple emails via their security messaging system to get a match, but they kept telling me to go to a branch office.

Anyone able to get the $500 match either through email or phone call their customer service?

Depends what you mean by "best"

Highest value will be transferring to airlines for first class airfare- you can often get 8-10 cents per point for that (meaning 50,000 points is worth as much as maybe $5000)

Next highest is same thing for business class- where 4-6 cents isn't uncommon, so 50k points might be worth $2500ish

After that- and probably the most "efficient" way- would be transferring to airlines for coach fares... this is more in the 1.5-2.5 cent a point range typically... (though if you had a southwest companion pass it'd be over 3 cents a point since you can effectively get 2 tickets out of each ticket)

There's some transfers to Hyatt for hotel bookings that can also get a bit north of 2 cents a point (but many that don't).

After those options you're looking at either 1.5 cents a point for any travel (hotel, rental car, airfare, whatever) booked via the chase portal if you also hold a Chase Sapphire Reserve.... or 1.25 cents using same method holding one of the "lesser" annual-fee chase cards like CSP.

And then after THAT is just using them at 1 cent a point for statement credits- which is the "best" option for people who never travel, but sucks compared to the others for those who do.

How do you get 8-10 points for first class?

Isn't it a 1 to 1 to transfer points to hotels or airlines?

That's not quite what I said... I said 8-10 cents per point

Transfers are 1:1, but the airline point cost for first class is often such that you're getting 8-10 cents in cash-equivalent value for those airline points.

(versus more like 4-6 cents for business class fares, and nearer 2 cents a point for coach fares)

All of which obviously beat the hell out of the 1 cent a point you get using the points for cash statement credits.

on the paper that came with my card it says "This account is to be used only for business transactions" but doesn't tell me what makes it constitute as a business transaction. anyone have any insight before I pay a medical bill with it?

Business cards have less protection than consumer cards so Chase has to remind you that it's for business transactions only but Chase doesn't really care what you charge on there

I just paid a 3k dental bill with it. Even pre authorized the charge with Chase. Shouldn't be a problem using for medical bills. Lots of people pay their medical bills through businesses.

Ever sell anything on eBay? You can claim that as a business. You don't have to have a real store or even a website. I am willing to bet the majority of the people on this thread who signed up do not have a real business.

You can only apply (and receive bonuses for) five Chase cards within a 24 month period. So keep that in mind when/if you start churning through Chase cards. The Sapphire Reserve and Business Ink are the two juiciest (IMVHO).
It's not just Chase cards, it's 5 cards from anywhere I think. I did 5 Chase in one year, regular Chase customer, then I applied for a Wells Fargo and was denied based on too many credit accounts.

Got rejected because 6 cards in last 24 months. Anyway to get past this? Read somewhere that applying through physical branch might be the way to beat this rule. Any ideas? 🙂

People keep saying business cards have less protections. So are you saying if someone steals the card you're responsible for thousands of dollars in illegal charges??? If so, it could never be worth the risk. And people say closing the account hurts your credit. So you'd just have a card sitting around where someone at any time could steal the card.
