You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

Pay with credit cards where cards are not accepted for a simple 2.5% fee.

Lol @ 2.5% fee

Get real bro
You want to use a credit card to pay someone who refuses to eat the CC fees him/herself, you've got to pay them yourself. That's how the world works. If you have the right card (Chase Ink Preferred), you even come out ahead after the 2.5%. Plenty of bills you can pay directly with a CC, if that's your aim.

Got the 30-day review but card came in mail a few days later. The card doesn't show up on my chase.com account like my other Chase card, and the chase.com/ink link just redirects there when I log in. Anyone else with this issue?

Also, the info that came with the card says nothing about the $500 cash back offer. Is it the sort of thing where you just trust that it's all good to go?

Need to create a business login -- won't show up under personal login

They never give bonus info in paperwork -- offer is attached to your account so just make the required purchases

To add to what JaTaN said you can also send them a secure message and inquire on what your bonus is. They should also tell you how much more you need to spend until you hit the bonus requirement. That or they tell you your total spent and then you just do a little subtraction. Also the date they give you that you need to complete your min spend requirement will most likely be more than 90 days/3 months. I forget exact number but I think it's around 110 days.

I applied about a week ago and got the 30 day notice.
I called the number from a prior post that took me to http://chaseflowchart.info/ to ask why, and they said they couldn't verify my tax ID and address. I sent them a copy of my tax ID from the IRS and a copy of my rental property tax return (schedule E from 1040) via fax.

Called again today, they attached the fax to my account but hadn't reviewed it yet. The rep put me on hold while he reviewed it, came back and said APPROVED! They would mail in about 2 weeks. I asked if I could get it earlier and he transferred me to CS. They said 3-5 business days. Not really in a hurry to get it, but figured I'd check on that option anyway.

I think I read this right... this doesn't count toward my 5 rewards from Chase /24 months but I had to be under 5 to be approved?
In other words, I could get 4 in the past 24 months and then this one and another in 31 days for a total of 6 rewards in 24 months right? 7 if I apply for another business card before the 5th personal one? First business as EIN and 2nd as SSN application?

Thanks

That is correct. You can keep applying for Chase business cards until you get a 5th personal card, whether from the Ink family or co-branded cards like the Southwest or United business cards. Doesn't matter if you use your SSN or EIN unless/until you decide to apply for a 2nd of the same card - you can get the Ink Cash, CIP, SWA and United business cards using the same SSN or EIN, but if you want a 2nd CIP for example, (which I have successfully done) then switch to whichever of SSN/EIN you did not previously use.

applied yesterday afternoon, got 30 day message. approved later that night when i saw a email from credit karma they checked me. approved for $7000. Anyway to get higher limit? Not a big deal but would like 10,000 or so.
Applied with sole, used merch, 1 employee and 1,500 income for those wondering.

i got this when applying for the business checking $300 offer. Couldn't turn down another $500!

I already have a Chase Ink Preferred that I opened earlier this year. Sole Prop. for both using my SSN with no issues. $2k income, 1 employee. I didn't get approved immediately as I had a equifax freeze and had to call and give them a PIN. Expedited the card after approval and got it in 2 days.

the 5% category says phone services. does anyone happen to know if i would still get 5% if i paid off the remaining balance of my phone leases?

I launched a formal FCC complain asking them to either issue me a card or remove the hard inquiry from my credit report. AND also list this policy somewhere during the applicaiton process.

I would suggest everyone who is denied should file the formal complain as well.

They claim that they can't list this as policy since this is against the lending descrimination guidelines.

Do most people get a card like this...spend the amount ($2000/$3000 or whatever) wait a year to get "bonus" points and they cancel the card?

They cant list it as policy for the same reason they cant list as policy that they will not give you a card if you have really low credit. They cant do anything legally that could be deemed as discouragement to applying.

I'm sorry if this question is already answered:
Does the Ink Preferred have the first year annual fee waived?

TIA
