You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

I had chase business card for 14 years and I applied again and I got rejected because they did not recognize my business and I applied as sole proprietor again and I also got rejected because I had an application pending. I called them and explained and asked for an explanation and I told them I might take my business elsewhere and they approved me on the phone !!.

Purchase whatever you want -- Chase has to tell you that its for "business purposes" and you have to agree to that when applying, but Chase doesn't really care what you use it for

Business cards don't have to follow consumer CC protection laws so they have less protection if you screw up:

50K UR points but you can claim as cash. Ask Sebby discusses card benefits. Find the review on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g2x7uR1D1o

Applied after business hours last night, got the 30 day message. Immediately called the automated number and it still said 30 days. I called 8AM this morning and it now says 1-2 weeks. Should I just leave it be or should I call? Was hoping to get approved and get the card this week for a purchase. I do have a side consultation gig that I do on and off. Used sole proprietor and my first + last name for business name. Thanks.

The same way you would pay bills with any other credit card. There are certain workarounds for some types of vendors who do not normally take credit card payment (Google "Plastiq" for some info).

No, unless Chase misapplied the 5/24 rule to you. Any new credit card (or Amex charge card) that you have opened in the last 24 months from any lender which shows up on your credit report counts toward 5/24.

If you are an Authorized User (AU) on a spouse/family member's card which opened in the last 24 months, that does show up on your credit report (the account, and also in the notes that you do not 'own' the account), and you can have the Chase rep disregard that particular account. Also, store branded charge cards that cannot be used outside of that store/chain (ie. do not have an Amex/Mastercard/Visa branding) can be disregarded through reconsideration. AU and store charge cards are the exception - in that the system that Chase uses to auto approve and deny doesn't distinguish, though a human rep can.

Depends on the person, and the terms and benefits of the particular card. This card has a $0 annual fee, so there is no reason to cancel right away. Other, high fee cards can have perks such as airport lounge access/travel credits/insurance/4th night free and/or increased points earning rates that make paying the fee worth it.
