You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

Are there any risks applying for a CC before applying for a mortgage?
Personally, I waited. No CC apps for 12 months before applying. I'm signing on the house in 8 days, and I'll be applying for something after that.

This guy is right, I just put like $75k a year, and made up a sole proprietor business and got approved.

I tried read through as many of the comments as I could,,, but there are too many....

I have the Chase Ink Business Preferred Card and I just applied for the Chase Ink Business Cash card...... I did this because I didn't see the point of paying the 95 dollar annual fee so I was wondering.... can I just call and cancel the Preferred Card? Will it hurt my credit score? If I am not approaching this correctly than can someone please tell me the best way to do it? I have to cancel within a day or two so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It may hurt your score. You may have been able to downgrade your card to ink cash to avoid credit score changes but you would not receive the $500 bonus.

Chase business cards don't show up on your credit report -- closing it has nothing to do with your credit score

There will be a hard inquiry on your credit report when applying for a new card which might lower your score couple points for a few months

It's really not. Chase couldn't care less what you actually use it for.

Do you get the $500only after you've spent and paid off at least $3000? Or can you have a balance of $3000 and still get the $500 credit?? Thanks

You get the $500 after spending $3000. You don't have to pay it off to get the $500 bonus. Of course you should pay if off regardless to reduce your interest charges.

Bonus will be pending in the rewards portal 2-5 days after your min spend charges are fully posted to your account -- they'll be available for use when the next statement generates
