You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

Anyone know how long it takes for the $500 bonus cashback to show up after meeting the requirements?

Bonus pts will be pending in rewards portal 2-5 days after charges are fully posted to your account -- they'll be available for use when your next statement generates

I bought some pens from Office Depot (online) using my ink cash card and am only earning 1% back. Any ideas as to why this didn't qualify for the 5% back at office supply stores?

EDIT: Chase got back with me over Secure Messaging: "Office Max/ Depot categorizes themselves as "Direct Marketing-Combination Catalog and Retail Merchants" with VisaCard, which isn't in the bonus category. We regret for the inconvenience caused to you." I'm wondering if that just applies to online purchases at Office Depot/Max... Lots of websites say that Office Depot/Max do get 5% back with this card. I'm unsure of why there is as discrepancy. I'll do an in store purchase tomorrow and see if that qualifies.

I am assuming lot of people here are applying business card with SSN. I got other chase business card with 80k points. Going to apply this one with green card status. Between Cash vs Unlimited, which one to try first?

Just a warning, if you fill out the form as a sole proprietor, do not use an EIN (Employer Identification Number) for tax ID, just use your SSN. Chase vetting process requires them to check the validity of the tax ID, so if you never used your EIN on a tax return, they cannot verify it and will require manual verification (by snail mail). It will add more processing time to your application and/or denial. They do not accept verification by emails.

From personal experience, this is incorrect. I had no problem applying and getting an Ink Preferred with a never-used EIN. There may have been some other reason for Chase to require verification from you, but assuming you follow the established best practices in applying for a Chase biz card, your experience is not reflective of any set rule or requirement.

I appreciate your comment, but maybe things have changed since you last approved. My post is based on my personal experience that happened this morning, so it is quite up to date. Chase called to ask questions about my business and at the end said I am approved over the phone but needed to verify my EIN, and it came back to tell me they cannot verify it and needed to mail me the letter to verify my EIN. The EIN does not help with the application, so I don't see any reasons to use it on the application. Sole proprietor is supposed to file the tax return by their SSN anyway.

Get the cash first so you get 5% back on cell phone and internet bills.
If you shop at office supplies stores that's also 5% back when hitting spend, lots of gift cards and staples has the discount on master card gc this week if you can get the card in hand fast enough.

My rental property taxes are coming up.. if I pay them using the card, does that count toward the $5k purchases during first 3 months after issuing the card??

Of course it counts, but usually property tax has a high fee for credit card, so you still come up short after earning the 1% UR points. It should be your last resort if you can't make the $3K spending in 3 months.

If you don't already have a Freedom Unlimited (or cards that earn 1.5% on everything), the Chase business Unlimited is a better choice. The Cash card earns 5% only on office supply stores (office depot, staples) and 1% on anything else.

Just to confirm. If I already have Ink Preferred, I can also get the bonus points from this card?
