You did it wrong. And applying with your SSN had nothing to do with your decline. Don't pretend to have an elaborate business that you can't back up - even if you can stretch it to seem kinda plausible.

What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
That one has an annual fee and requires $5k spending from what I can see, but the CB and bonus amount are indeed better.
When I signed up years ago, basic Ebay sellers were viewed as a business. Today YMMV but I still have the card.

One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

Thank you very much for the info. Had my biggest expenses of the year this last weekend, so was very disappointed. Maybe their email wording could've been better to decrease expectations...or I could've called them. ;-)
Thanks again!
I Think a good rule of thumb is that, except for the ultra premium cards (CSR/AmEx Plat/Citi Prestige/Co-branded cards with a $400+AF) that are automatically expedited via overnight shipping, you should expect at least a week between approval and having the card in hand to account for processing + delivery time via USPS 1st class mail.

This showed up in the mail today. No email, no approval notice of any kind. I went to activate it online and all I got was all your cards are activated. Had to call to activate it and then talk to someone to have it added to my account. If only I hadn't been lazy and called last week like I knew I should have, might have received in time for last Friday's $1650 expense. I'm wondering if the banker didn't understand when I said I don't have an account with them, but I do have a chase business account login. Seems like that was the issue. Also approved for $7k vs my Business Preferred that I closed that was approved for $13k.

I could only read through 15 pages until I called it quits. But I didn't see the answer to this question - Could you really get 5% cash back on Amazon/Best Buy/Walmart etc if you buy gift cards from Staples and Office Depot? And wouldn't that make the Chase Amazon card useless?

Folks, any idea how long it takes for approval? I had applied a few days ago. When can I expect a acceptance or reject letter?

Yes but you have to call their IT department to sync it to your regular chase account instead of making a new business account. Takes about 10-15 mins.

Applied last night and got instant approval for a $20K credit line. I applied as a sole proprietor with my SSN and ordered an additional employee card for my wife. I then called the Chase customer service number (800) 432-3117‬ and asked to have the cards expedited. They will send them via UPS for free. Supposed to get them in three days instead of 7-10.

BTW - Chase did do a hard inquiry against my credit file.

Same thing happened to me. If you have a sole prop that you operate out of your residence and completed the application correctly, a utility bill in your name will work. I used cable.

If you have a sole prop, did you use your name as the name of the business on the app? If so, then I think most states don't require any registration.
