What you should have done (and could do in 30 days if you wish to reapply) is to simply apply as a "Sole Proprietor". From that point, pick a category/subcategory that makes sense for you, put minimal levels of income and years in business. I have gotten 3 Chase business cards doing exactly that (2 using my SSN, the 3rd with an EIN), as have a large number of other people - oddly enough, it is easier to get approved following those steps than for legitimate small business owners applying for their businesses.
One thing to know, the buyer protections granted to customers of non-business VISA cards may not come with the business card. You may want to check carefully before using this card for higher risk purchases.

yes you are correct regarding no bonus for downgrading but you can hold multiple of the same cards. for instance, if you apply for the CIC and then downgrade your CIP to a second CIC, you would have 2 25k/yr limits for 5x points at office supply stores which is awesome if you have large spend or have a way to liquidate gift cards.

If you have a home based business and apply using anything other then your name as sole proprietor, then you'll go thru hell with Chase asking for info.
Just wait 3 months and reapply the right way. In the meantime fill the void with a Cap One or other card.
Wait 30 days for the app to drop from the system then apply again using your name as the business name if you still want the card
You might consider it a legit business but Chase doesn't unless it's a registered business name from a legal entity.
(ex: documented business license, registered LCC, articles of incorporation, etc, etc)
If you have any of those submit them.
