It doesn't compare to a built in system because the lack of additional keypads, expensive sensors, and limited integration with existing nest and Google products. For example, you can't use Google home to turn on the alarm. But they promise soft ware upgrades

It is not just a door sensor though. It can also be set up as a motion detector any where in the house. But yeah, like I said in the OP it's not a cheap system in general.
