I believe that the manual says 4tb. I have put an 8tb WD red in myself and that works fine. No reason it wouldn't recognize two 8tb drives..
- thanks fo4imtippin

Recommended Video Doorbell to combine with this kit:

Note:
The 4MP cameras are not varifocal - that is they have a fixed Lens, and thus the zoom is not optical - so I would ignore the "3x Zoom" spec when considering this kit.

lol, well beside that Kotori Ubiquiti is know to be better about updates for their product line.

Note - folks at ipcamtalk like the Ubiquiti WiFi extenders - however pick up Dahua OEM and Hikvision OEM cameras instead of Ubiquiti cameras as they feel those products have better cameras than Ubiquiti for the price. ( metal cases, better sensors, better DSP,... )

The NVR already have a built in 8 port POE switch that would supply power to the POE cameras. ie. each camera you only need to run 1 ethernet cable which would provide both data and power without needing another power cable

This NVR recording max out at 6MP IIRC so not a 4K NVR (4K = 8MP) but it is not marketed as a 4k NVR so just more for FYI

FYI - NVR in this kit has a builtin switch w/PoE ports. So you do note have to get a separate one. If you want a separate one - look for one which follows the IEEE standard for PoE and provides enough Watts for all the PoE devices you want to connect.

What about software? Let's say I need a zoned motion detection with notification to my mobile device. How does it work here?

You can either use the Hik-connect or IVMS4500 apps for mobile device notification.

Zoned motion detection can be either set on
  • On the NVR, as long as its the same brand between NVR/Camera the Motion detection setting will propagate from NVR to camera
On the camera itself via the built in webpage portal
    On the Apps

you may need to configure the motion detection via the NVR... THEN enable mobile notification via the App.

As hard drive is not included, any recommendation on any brand, specs or specific model hard drive that fits with this system is appreciated.

Any SATA drive should work, for me that mean any left over drives or whatever is on sale. Other prefer using pricier NAS enterprise grade drives for greater longetivity reliability. I would recommend at least 2TB and I think the nvr support up to 6 TB but should check the spec
