Acoustic Sound Design via Amazon has a number of ELAC Debut speakers on sale.

The B5 Bookshelves [amazon.com] are $159/pair.

The F6 Floorstanders [amazon.com] are $279 each.

And the S10EQ sub [amazon.com] is $279.

For those who don't know, ELAC has become the new cool entry level speaker brand, ever since they hired Andrew Jones away from Pioneer.

The amps in these subs seem to be likely to prematurely crap out. I had one and the amp stayed warm all the time, even when not in use. I would probably steer clear of the 550p or pretty much any JBL subwoofer.

In for a pair of subs, hoping two of these 10s will outshine my single 12. Thoughts?

In for one of the S10EQ subs. You can get an additional $10 off if you see the bonus offer for adding $100 to your Amazon gift card account. The novelty factor of this sub using the app controls has me intrigued.

It was a banner on the checkout page. Put $100 on GC and get $10 more added. It may or may not show up for everyone, not sure. If it does you just turn right around and use it on this purchase anyway, so an easy $10 off.

My receiver only has a single sub output, any probs if I simply buy a y-splitter into two of these? Or am I better off with a sub w two sub outputs?

Can anyone recommend a decent Subwoofer for $200 that would be a 2nd one to pair in my HT set-up?
Thanks

Check out the Bic line of subwoofers, excellent value.

The polk psw505 is $200 or less fairly often. Not a bad sub for that price, although $200 doesn't get you a very good sub.

I just bought two of these Elac subs to replace a PSW505, moving down in size, but doubling up, what can I expect from the upgrade? Tighter and more responsive bass? More noticeable in music or movies? What type of music will stepping up to this level of sub really help demonstrate things best? TIA

The psw505 has strong output in the 40-70Hz range, but isn't accurate. Most budget ported subs tend to be strong in the middle range of a typical sub frequency response, but drop off steeply. The Elac has a passive radiator, so it should have a more linear and accurate sound. It likely won't have the maximum output capability of the Polk in that middle range, however.

Would agree with the JBL crapping out, although my Bic f12 crapped out after exactly 5 1/2 years - warranty is 5
