Samsung 970 EVO 1TB NVMe SSD for $340 with UNiDAYS Student Discount

$340.00
+32 Deal Score
9,991 Views
Just saw the launch of the 970 series on tech blogs, went to check for student discount on their 1TB option. $340 AFAIK is quite good - comparable to the last FP deal for the 960 EVO 1TB.

You'll need to sign up for UNiDAYS student discount to see the deal.

Also includes a digital code to Far Cry 5: "Buy a qualifying Samsung SSD and receive a free digital code to download Far Cry 5 to your PC. Offer valid through 6/2. Limit of one code per customer per purchase."

I haven't posted many deals, so please be gentle!

New regular price minus unidays discount plus sales tax for all on Samsung.com. They launched at prices significantly lower than previously announced to undercut WD. It's all over the news today

Umm why do they list TWO 500gb 970 evo ssds for different prices? (2 of all capacities, actually)

I got a 250 gb 960 ssd and haven't opened it. Was planning on using only that for an ssd, since I noticed I don't use much space on my current HDD for programs. I'd be tempted to get a 500gb 970, if I could find someone to buy my 960 without me having to pay all the stupid ebay or amazon fees. Also, though, it seems risky to me to sell any computer parts, as an individual, since they'd whine to paypal asking for a refund if it didn't work after x amount of time, despite it being unopened.

thats so weird. what's there to undercut from WD? nah, not WD. i'd put the intel 760p as the closest competitor.

What I don't understand is why are the 960 evos more then the retail price of the 970 evo? Am I missing something? I just bought the 960 for 470 and literally just set everything up last night.

Even on the Samsung website. The 960 evo is 450, the 970 evo is 400

doh! i missed the WD Black 3D nvme release. Seems to be on par with the 960 evo in 4KQD1 randoms, but that 760p takes the lead. i can see why samsung lowered the base price on the 970's.

edit: WD had the Black nvme out a while ago but its nowhere near the performance class as the new one. also, the new one that came out seems to have the same label. nice. that shouldnt confuse anyone, right? WDS256G1X0C is the 1st gen and WDS256G2X0C is the 2nd gen. the older one has a blue pcb while the new one has a black pcb.

I feel like once you're up on the level of 960,970, or that wd, it wouldn't be noticeable if one perfroms better than the other. At least I hope so, because got a 960 and it would be too much hassle to sell it and get a 970.

Thank you OP, saved me $120 for the 2tb 970 Evo! and the free game, only downside was tax, but still great savings overall.
