Hong Kong is on sale...I posted a deal earlier leaving from Florida for the same time period, so maybe check your city too.
Several major airlines such as United Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Hong Kong Airlines have low round-trip, nonstop airfares travelling from San Francisco (SFO) or Los Angeles (LAX) to Hong Kong (HKG). Hong Kong Airlines has the lowest but the other fares are still pretty cheap and considering it's Cathay Pacific, some don't mind paying the higher fare for their renown service.
Travel Availability:
From San Francisco $380 on HK Airlines, $420 on UA or Cathay Pacific
Travel Availability: Mondays & Wednesday from Aug 27 thru Dec 5 (except Oct 8 & 10)
From Los Angeles: $387 on HK Airlines; $458 on UA or Cathay Pacific
Travel Availability: Monday thru Thursday from Aug 27 thru Dec 6 (except Nov 19)
Returns: good and wide availability, generally 7 or 14 days stay
Use dates and book it on
Expedia [expedia.com],
Priceline [priceline.com] or
Travelocity [travelocity.com]. Bundling hotel with airfare will save money.

When will it be the best time to look and purchase non-stop flights from San Francisco to Incheon/Seoul, South Korea for either September or December trip??
Been focusing on traveling to Korea for a month this year either September or December but not sure where I should start....
Thanks!

also is the reason you expedia/priceline/travelocity recommend so SD can reap affiliate perks? will we get similar prices using ita/google flights?

Those are good times to fly. But if you fly the Chinese airlines, you'll usually have very long layovers in China somewhere.
But the real question is when is the best time to buy plane tickets for those possible travel times...
I still remember it to this day (although I've never flown Cathay Pacific again because discount carriers are fine with me).

Hi, a Korean here... I have shit ton of miles so I usually take Korean Air, but if you plan ahead you can find very cheap tickets with 1 layover (beijing) thru China Eastern. Yes, one stop, but the benefit is you land at gimpo not incheon, so total travel time difference (for me at least) ends up being within a hr.
