Just be mindful that they will be very strict on the baggage leaving Tokyo. At LAX, the agents only weighed regular carry-ons when I flew with them, but purses or backpacks were not. That is not the case in Japan, which can throw some people off who are not used to a long-haul LCC.

SFO also has great prices thru the summer with them. I had flew 3 times and all great. They do weight the bags to check if they are 7kg. Children up to their 7th birthday also pay only the fees!

I found through looking for a return from from Tokyo to LAX (booked flight there on JAL points). I was shocked to find four seats with a checked bag and a signed seat for $330 per person including taxes. Absolutely shocked. I hadn't even heard of them until I booked two days ago. I don't care if they make us roam in a chicken pen and throw rice at us - for that price to hop the Pacific I'm in. Also found out they are owned by JAL.

I booked through trip.com.

first time i flew with delta round trip and paid for the comfort+ for the extra leg space. didnt help much since i was anxious the majority of the flight, it was my first long haul flight. the following year i flew with zipair roundtrip for half of what i paid with delta. it got the job done and left me with extra spending money for gifts and souvenirs. will fly again with zipair,

In Shinjuku now. For those who have not been to Japan, don't rely on your phone carrier telling you that you can get online here unless you pay extra for high speed access. T-Mobile says all of the company's plan will work in Japan but their 5 GB allowance is completely worthless. Nothing will load. Do yourself a favor and get a pocket Wi-Fi and make sure to download the map for offline use. That saved me from navigating the ultra complex Shinjuku station.

We use Google Fi. Not once have we had a problem. It switches over automatically to the Japanese network with no noticeable lag in speed. Plenty of data allocation with the plan we use while in Japan.

Previous to Google Fi, we used to rent a pocket cellular router from a Japanese shop. That worked okay, but the speed was much slower than what we get from Google Fi.

think I'm going to book tomorrow, the 7kg is a tough, guess I'll just hit up Uniqlo for some underwear, socks and just consider them disposable.
Traveling from SFO arriving at 8pm NRT kinda sucks for the first night! is a 9:30pm-10pm arrival at Tokyo Station or Keisei-Ueno unrealistic? (NEX/Skyliner)

Doable if you don't carry anything aside from clothing and phone. Those were the only items in my bag and my wait time until clearing customs was only 5 minutes. I guess it was the only flight landed at that time. Just make sure you register with Japanese customs online and get a QR code. I did that and the only acknowledgment I had to make was to confirm I didn't bring anything illegal into the country. It was less than 5 seconds. My time at the customs window lasted a minute.
