Good kit, well documented.

NVR can be a bit noisy so do not install in your bedroom.

For the price it is a good value w/6 "4K"/8MP UHD IP PoE cameras.

Lots of info here:

Is the NVR noise simply a matter of a fan that could be swapped out?

Why do you have 4K in quotations? Is it not true 4K? I feel like I always get confused by this. I bought a 4K Lorex system on the last deal from Costco: two bullet and two dome cameras.

Note regarding "4K" / 8MP cameras - currently most of what are called 4K security cameras are not fully compliant with known 4K standards as they do not have enough processing power to fully handle enough fps to fully meet any 4K specs. Thus while their resolution maybe 4K compatible, their fps are not. In this case the cameras in this kit are able to record 15 fps, which is typically good enough for most security camera applications while keeping the storage needed for the videos lower than a fully compliant 4K camera due to the reduced fps.

Does anyone with more knowledge than myself know how this compares to this deal? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...h_2tb.html for $999?

I've seen this deal a few times but haven't pulled the trigger on either. There is so much info on this Lorex unit I'm tempted to go with it for support reasons.

Hi Vinci,

Definitely check out cpo's video on this kit, see the wiki in the link for the reference, or search youtube for the kit number.

Looks like a fan replacement may help, also it seems due to the stamped out intake vent holes in the case for the fan additional turbulence and thus noise is created.

Hi cheapa

Recommendation: Go with a 16 port NVR instead if you need more than 8 cameras.
( or 16 port PoE switch + VMS software on a PC )

Hi NeeIP -

Note - that particular Lorex kit ( 4x "4K" UHD cameras + NVR ), iirc we have not yet determined the OEM of, and thus are uncertain of some aspects of it as well as getting additional cameras to work with it.

Do check the Lorex website to see what it states are compatible cameras for the kit you picked up.

Yes, I know it gets a bit confusing to figure this out.

Thanks dfk70.

Hi NeedIP

It does get confusing. Thus why I like to add "4K" when ( as dfk70 points out ) the fps is less than what the typical 4K UHD product should be able to do.

Also, when we see 4K TV and the like, they are not to the official 4K cinematic standard - but using a different 4K UHD resolution spec - so some say a 4K TV / monitor or whatever really is not real 4K when comparing to 4K cinematic specs.

Confusing indeed!

Hi evulflea

That kit is a good kit, however note we're getting more into the apples vs oranges comparison now as it is
1) Made by Hikvsion
2) NVR is rated for up to 5MP resolution input
3) Cameras are 4MP, vs "4K" / 8MP resolution.

$1000 / $1K / $999 for that kit is a good deal, though I would use the following to compare the value of it:

Recently, was a very good/killer deal btw:
8MP Swann ( Hikvision OEM ) turret cameras hit SD fp at $130 each, or 6 for $780.
5MP Swann bullet or dome cameras were $150 for a 2 pack - or $450 for 6.

Those are OOS now, but that should give you a better way to evaluate the "deal" from B&H

Also note,

The Q-see and Amcrest "4K" UHD / 8MP cameras which I posted recently are better cameras than the cameras included in this kit due to:

1) Retain Dahua OEM IVS features ( aka advanced features )
2) iirc have the microSD card slots - so they can actually be used stand alone, or with on camera storage when NVR dies.
3) I believe they have slightly newer internal electronics.
4) Are ONVIF comformant to some degree..

HI tyt,

Yes - that is the great thing about Costco...best return policy on these type of items.

Better hurry though, this maybe the last we see of this kit.

It's a good solid kit, and for the price imho a very good deal.

Remember to bench test ASAP if you pick it up.

Thanks. 6 kits cameras is overkill to me. Is there a good specs for 4 4K cameras kit? Just curious why bench test? Not IT literate.
