Does this come with the accessory hose? And also, could you use the accessory hose to vacuum air out of non-FoodSaver containers (like if I wanted to suck the air out of a bag of cereal before tying it with a rubber band)?

Thanks, I've been looking for a deal on a vacuum sealer. Also looking through the reviews, it seems the product support team for Food Saver is very prevalent trying to solve issues with defective units, so that's pretty comforting.

Rolling the dice, my old one is annoying in that it won't let me seal until full vac so I have to toss it. My sous vide requires a softer touch.

I had a foodsaver... It worked once, and that was that.

It was 10 years ago or so, maybe they have improved, but I'm not chancing it.

Does anyone have experience buying this refurbished? Can it seal pretty much any bags or it has to be food saver?

+1 on this question. The other reply doesn't answer it. If it's just a regular vacuum and hose, can't you just use it to vacuum seal generic ziplock bags?

No, because the bags have grooves/channels, after it sucks air out it heat seal it. You can stick a thin wall straw in the bag and seal the straw with the bag. YouTube it if you can't visualize it.

Bought this deal last go around and have had it around 2 months, no issues at all so far. It is a no frills model but vacuum seals everything I throw at it no issue, I got bags off amazon for pretty cheap that work with it and honestly so far has made my life much easier. I was skeptical like some of the people here but at 28$ I couldn't pass it up and I am happy that I did not!
