First off, if you like/love NASCAR, 1) you might not want to stick around laugh out loud , and 2) my condolences. Stick Out Tongue

1st race of the season, and I already can't stand this. Ugh. Didn't start out well either. The guy who normally runs the board for the races needed to be off tonight, so I gotta sit here and listen to this crap. And not only is he off, he told me the wrong time that it started. He told me 7:45pm, and it was 7:15pm, so I happened to check it at 7:30, and there's nothing playing. Wonderful. Jump in, and I have no idea where I am in the show. Talk about a farking train wreck.

Fark NASCAR. Mad Ranting

If you hate NASCAR, enjoy this thread with me.

Again, if you like NASCAR, this probably isn't the thread for you as I won't be shy about talking crap about it. laugh out loud

laugh out loud I always found it an interesting conversation piece. My parents (mom & step-dad) have a piece of Rusty Wallace's car from his bad crash at Daytona signed. Dontknow

I used to like Nascar when I was younger (mid 90s). I think it was more fun then. The people weren't such jackasses and they raced because they enjoyed it, not for the competition. I stopped watching a long time ago. I catch a race every so often now and I don't know any of the people. I come from the days of Rusty Wallace, Bobby Labonte, Ricky Rudd, Bill Elliot...... this is when Jeff Gordon was a rookie.

My dad has a jacket signed by Rusty Wallace. He got it during Rusty's last season. He shoved a fat woman out of the way to get Rusty's autograph.

I come from the late 90s and early 2000s. Earnhardt dying occurred about my 3rd year of watching NASCAR. I remember when Earnhardt, Gordon, Labonte, and Wallace were like the Top 4.

And when 16-car powerhouse teams weren't the norm. F you Roush Fenway Yates Racing Richard Petty Motorsports Front Row Racing.

One day you'll understand, although maybe by the time you're in your career things will be better in the economy (and hopefully for the kind of business you choose to do for a living).

I've been a fan since 1986. If Z doesn't like it, there are always stations out there that don't care about NASCAR. laugh out loud

I don't understand why you'd keep a job at a radio station like this when you know what the job entitles. There's a shit ton of radio stations out there, and only these stations [motorracingnetwork.com] are the ones that will carry a NASCAR broadcast...

I'm sure there's one out there that is hiring someone in your position that doesn't carry NASCAR. Wink.

Exactly.

I'd probably have been a fan sooner, except that I wasn't born till 91. The first race I ever saw was won by Gordon. I sort of naturally became a Hendrick fan and have been pretty much since ~1996. I remember about as far back as watching the 96, 97, and 98 championship battles.

Like I said before, the market right now is not conducive to hiring people. It's a royal mess right now. Clear Channel (the largest radio station owning corporation in the country) liquidated 18% of their staff within 3 months last year (I was one casualty of that liquidation). The radio market has changed DRASTICALLY over the past 7 years due to many things (technology, piracy, economy, etc), and NOBODY is hiring. Sure, if you've been quite successful over the past 6 years, you should be ok....but for the most part, all the operations people are farked. You just don't understand....I gotta take what I can take at this point....and god damnit, I'll farking bitch about it all I like. Smilie

You think you know everything. And yet you're still just a young kid. One day you'll realize life isn't just that simple.

Take it easy on ZM. He doesn't have to like Nascar to work at his job. We all have things about our jobs that we don't like and that annoy the hell out of us. It isn't that easy to just "get another job."
