This is not the best on the market. But then, it's no where near as expensive, either. It's a good middle of the road cooker & a nice size, particularly for beginners.
I've had this cooker for years. I liked it so well that I got the 7 qt, originally intending to replace the 5. But I actually use both of them regularly, especially in the heat.
They're energy efficient, simple to use, versatile & portable (though not leak-proof). Time savers, too. They do duty as yogurt maker, slow cooker, thermal tote (hot or cold) & rice cooker.
If you never use it for anything else, this pot will still pay for itself as a rice cooker. Especially if you cook large portions.
Might also recommend "Let's Make Sense of Thermal Cooking Cookbook" by Cindy Miller. Great education in all things thermal cooking & some bonus survivalist tips as well.
