I searched and didn't see this posted. Please let me know if this is a repost. AT&T is offering internet called "Fixed Wireless Internet." The service is provided from cell towers and transmits to a small dish that AT&T will install on your property. The reason for YMMV in the title is because the service may not be available in all areas. This is not a mobile unit, hence the name fixed wireless internet. This is a decent plan for anyone who is currently using a satellite internet company. It is much more affordable and includes much more data per month than most satellite internet companies. I ordered mine today. I have been using a similar local service and getting only 6 mbps speeds (or less) for $35 per month. AT&T says there will be at least a 10 mbps speed or more. The cost is $60 per month for standalone service. If you have Directv, and/or AT&T wireless, you can combine the bill and get it for $50 per month. The data cap is 170 GB per month. Overages are billed at $10 for each additional 50 GB (up to $200) per month. HOWEVER…if you sign up before 10/1/18, they will double the data. That makes it 340 GB per month. Please do not criticize. This is merely a post to help those who, like myself, live in rural areas that have limited options for internet service.
They also have a plan for $85 that includes the fixed wireless internet and Directv.

Here is the fine print:

Might be an option for some... with a cap, but cheaper than Unlimitedville. More expensive than the tablet plan in a hotspot.

This should technically be available anywhere you can get an AT&T signal. But of course its not. My house has good signal too and its rural.

Good thing I have two car connected unlimited lines for $20 each a month... LOL

The double data was enough to get me to sign up. Thanks.

I live in the FL panhandle. I currently have 3mbit dsl AND Verizon LTE installed (15gb monthly cap).

To the guy asking what we do for a living, I pull teeth, how do think we country folk get all those stereotypes...see think outside the box.

Darn, not available for me. Got my hopes up! At my lake house the only options are satellite internet with low data caps, or DSL that maxes at 10 Mbps for over $100/month.

Call and threaten to cancel...ATT keeps trying to up my bill to 70 something for 3mbit...I call and threaten and they are quite happy with 40 flat...still a rip off.

I live in an urban area and my only choice is Cox. I called AT&T a couple months ago (thinking they had hard lines in my area but it turns out they didn't) to see what they could do and they offered me this type of service (they have great cell coverage in my area) but wanted to charge me $85/month and wouldn't guarantee the download speed and capped it at 5GB/month, so this is a nice option... which of course isn't available to me Mad
