I'm no pricing expert, but Im guessing they take the price they paid for it.. and add a percentage to come up with.... lets call it a profit margin...

I would say its not the pricing that was the problem, but the buying on this item...

seeing that this one started near noon, i'm guessing this is a planned woot killer to give the woot people a lunch break. they have one rookie who has to stay back to see if any sudden sales happen to press that panic button sold earlier

Yeah most businesses aren't into buy high/sell low (note sarcasm) but sometimes you just have to suck it up and say I screwed up and sell at a loss! This guitar would be a good example of that principle!

Ah, you like that new Jack in the Box? And any idea what that new development just across 287 is going to be? I thought it was another gas well, but they have that one going in on sublett and the completed one just down 287 south.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with what they purchase them for and profit margin or anything like that. They must just pull a number out of their butts. Stupid woot.

ooh, you're quite clever.

There are obviously different methods of pricing things. If I were able to buy a new laptop at $5, I would not sell it to you for $10, even though it would be at a 100% profit

What I was wondering in my previous post (hence me not knowing which department to blame) is whether they bought the guitars at too close to retail, or if they just miscalculated the price at which they could sell these quickly.

Thanks for playing.
