Newegg has the 2018 TCL 55" 6 series Dolby Atmos TV with local dimming, etc, etc for 549.00 and possibly tax free (ymmv).

Sold by Electronic Express

Must use promo code BLITZ100 NEFQCD10

I don't think this is the lowest this TV has been... but it's close?

The 617s and 615s are the same, but with different remotes.

And yes, this blows away the Sharp & Hisense sets.
You're completely wrong. It has true HDR with a wide color gamut, local dimming and can reach 1000 nits brightness https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/6-series-2018-r617
Nah, QA on the TCLs are pretty bad either way, but when you get a good one, they're a great set. The model differences are mainly so BB doesn't have to price match.

Is this one worth it over the 55 inch Sharp? Or the 65 inch Hisense?

I wonder if the 617s are better than the 615s that Best buy sells in regards to the banding problem. Had to return the 6 Series I bought as it was pretty severe

They're the same sets technically but I'm wondering if the 617s have a higher QA standard since they come with slightly better remotes. I'm guessing probably not though

when buying a budget tv, you'll be the qa & tester for the manufacturer. they're betting you won't return it due to the hassles.

Is there a reason why the 55R617 is still over $500?
Because Costco doesn't have them in stock...yet laugh out loud

A good deal if you need to buy it now or are not a Costco member. A "eh" so-so deal if you don't need it now and are a Costco member.

In addition to the rock-bottom price, I like the no-questions asked easy return option (i.e. dead pixels), the free 2-year extended warranty using my Costco Visa, and the 3 additional years for only $35 from Square Trade (if it comes in under $500 https://www.costco.com/SquareTrad...60874.html) from Costco. That's 5 additional years on-top of the TCL warranty.

If you're not in a rush and have a Costco membership....wait a couple of months.

It's not going to drop much. It's the best 55" you can buy under $800. Even last year's 55p series are still going for $475.

I've got on of these in the bedroom. Bought it during the ebay 15% off day. No regrets, TV blows away my 65m series Vizio.

Great set but man, with the panel, I'd recommend buying locally.
