That's why I just stick with the larger 3.0 portable drives if I want at least consistent 70MB/s write speeds and just might pick up those portable SSD at this point.
Edit: Do note I'm talking about these cheap USB 3.0 flash drives. Any benchmark of flash drives can easily point you would have to get the performance version of flash drives like the Extreme from Sandisk if you want better write speeds. Otherwise these crapper sub $15 flash drive won't be magic.
But like the other guy said, cheap USB 3.0/3.1 drives like these are usually going to write at 20-30 megabytes per second. They will read much much faster (80-150 MB/s in my experience).
Drives with higher write speeds cost more.
