This is the first I've seen... Are you sure you're not confusing it with the Lowe's deal on a different model?

I'm not familiar with these sort of fire pits. What is bad about it, and what should one look for in terms of good design?

Not sure if this is why others are saying it's a terrible design, but this is why I'm not going for it - although the more I think about it these are problems I could work around if I built a bigger table around it...

It has too small of a ceramic area around the fire pit - you can't set your beer or put your feet up on it.

It's too short of a height, at 18" you're talking about ankle height and it won't make a good centerpiece table.

The base of the table is open, that's where your propane tank would go, under the table, and it's just going to be an eyesore detracting from the idea behind the table. Actually I'm not even sure if it's tall enough or if there is enough clearance for a propane tank under the table - you can see in the pictures there's a gas line setting up a nice trip hazard.

If you were looking to DYI the price is a good price for a burner (they are surprisingly expensive on their own) and you could build this into a larger table that solves the problems (either having the control side on the edge of your build or re-positioning them).

Price just jumped to $164.49. I wonder if the earlier ~$70 price was a PM?
Clearly someone's been buying this deal...!!!

I switched my store to a different one and it shows the $70 price on products page, but when I add it to cart, it shows up as $164.49 in my cart. I wonder if target chat would honor the product page's price.

$164.49 (current) plus $70.49 (earlier when posted) totals $234.98 (original price at Target. Looks like somebody "confused" the discount and final sale price. I don't want to use the "M" word and trigger everybody's alarm!
