Good deal for anyone looking for this. Lowest Amazon price ever per 3 camels. Depending on your needs this Costco disposal for $70 might be more cost effective though: https://slickdeals.net/f/12064919-costco-american-standard-1-25hp-garbage-disposal-69-99
You flush nothing but TP?!? What do you do with all your poop?

This is the one I have, and it works great and was very easy to install. It's obviously loud, but not as loud as I expected, but we upgraded from some builders grade junk. The drain plug is stiff and until it's broken in, you will have to push bigger things through. I like it because it prevents backsplash and keeps the noise lower than it would otherwise be.

I have a septic, and I haven't done the research on it but the septic assist seems to just be a little bit of a not-necessary doo-dad.
I know it releases good bacteria into the system, but the best thing I've heard from all "experts" (not trying to sell me something) is don't use (or put down the sink) anti-bacterial stuff, as it kills the good bacteria in your septic.

The good bacteria will thrive as long as you aren't trying to kill them. On to the disposal, it seems like a good one, and a bit quieter than the insinkerator I recently bought and the evolution line is supposed to be pretty good.

would love to hear from someone about these.

I have a septic system and have fine strainers on all my sinks to just avoid putting junk down the drain.

is this for the person that just has to put food waste down the drain?

With 3 kids and 3 adults in my house, we throw away way too much food. I had to get a disposal after living in the house for a few months. I installed this and having been throwing all kinds of food scraps and bones down it. It is awesome. I had to change the original baffle that sticks in the drain because it was ripped. They change the design so you don't have to push the food down like you did with the original. It goes down easier. However , it is louder due to the larger opening. I have no regrets with this thing. I buy the ridx from amazon to refill the container. I'm planning on having my septic tank emptied soon, about 14 months since my last empty. We'll see how things go.

If you are OK dealing with the strainers, then stick with them. Most septic service pros will tell you to avoid disposals unless you're willing to pump twice as often. Whatever you do, avoid putting grease down the drain.

We have a septic with a disposal. Have had it for 4 years now, no issues whatsoever. We do get it pumped every 16-18 months instead of 24 months like we did prior. But with 3 kids under the age of 5.... well worth it. Septic guy we use is a friend of ours that has been in business for over 20 years and he told us it was fine before we installed it as well. Just my 2 cents.

In KY, if using an under the sink garbage disposal unit with a septic tank, you have to increase the septic tank size by 50%! That's obviously whenever a septic tank is being installed.

I'd be more than happy to give you a link to the engineering online book that covers this. Tis free

Bought the Evolution series a few years back to replace a disposal that was dripping. There is a big difference with the Evolution line - super quiet and made with quality stainless steel components so it won't rust through like their cheap line. I don't have a septic system so I don't have to worry about that but I've been pleased with my purchase (and paid a lot more than this).

You pump it that often? We have 5 people and pump it probably every 5 years and have a garbage disposal. Last time it was pumped, he said we could've waited close to 10 years...

As good brooklynites, in the heart of progressive America, we do the fine strainer and then compost all our food waste.

no septic but have had an evolution for many years. Quality super quiet unit. Remodeled the kitchen last year, thought i'd replace it along with the remod but inspected, and only thing i replaced was a small o-ring on the removable outlet arm. made in usa too.
