It's an MMO third person shooter. You can play it solo, with friends, with strangers, whatever you like. It is online, however.
If you already own the standard edition on Uplay, what would happen if you enter the gold edition code in the same account? Would it give you the season pass then?

EDIT: Also both are Uplay codes. And you can't mix and match the base game and season pass between Steam and Uplay versions I believe.
