"There's a myth that carbon monoxide alarms should be installed lower on the wall because carbon monoxide is heavier than air. In fact, carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air and diffuses evenly throughout the room.
According to the carbon monoxide guidelines of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 720, 2005 edition), all carbon monoxide alarms "shall be centrally located outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms," and each alarm "shall be located on the wall, ceiling or other location as specified in the installation instructions that accompany the unit.""

The Costco 3 pack is here and is wireless and interconnected:

They are believed to be this model:

So that comes out to about $4 more each for the interconnected type @ Costco.
They also had a 2 pack in the store for $79.99 so I am assuming those may be on sale too starting today. item 1245670
The other Costco 2 pack mentioned in this thread (2 for $30) are not CO detectors, just smoke alarms.

Local warehouse price for the 2 pk smoke & fire alarm for me is $29.99 and the stand alone carbon monoxide alarm [costco.com] is $34.99. YMMV. Coupon book brings it to $22.99 and $24.99, respectively starting today.
They are this model here:

Please check local codes, in California you need one smoke detector in every bedroom. In some places they have to be hardwired only.
For CO, more info from California Fire Marshal here: http://osfm.fire.ca.go
According to http://osfm.fire.ca.go
One last thing, some city fire departments offer free installation of smoke alarm for seniors.

thank u. they are connected, so alarm will go off in every room together.
as long as you don't want wireless, this is a good deal
I'm pretty sure you need ones that are specifically labeled with the ability to talk to each other through the wire.
