This looks the same as the Fry's kit - SO yes!
Finally a kit I would buy! ( I like the 16 port / channel kit the most )
Nice! Finally we can drop the Back Orders from Fry's!
Hi Bmr4life -
More processing power and memory in the 16 channel NVR, and compared to the cheaper 8 channel NVR the 16 channel NVR had alarm I/O ports! ( double check this - look for the green block on the back of the NVR )
Hi Eluxing,
While both LeChange and Lorex are Dahua companies, the Lorex brand has stripped out the IVS functionality. You can on some of the Lorex NVRs ( depends on model ) flash the Dahua OEM firmware - but that will take some effort.
While I like the Costco return policies, these LeChange deals are very nice and tempting, and right now if I needed a kit I would pick the 16 channel one from B&H.
Hi JDN,
Dahua owns the LeChange brand - and they're bringing it to the US. Normally I do not have high expectations from companies selling security camera systems at deal prices w/o monthly service charges. So I would not expect a lot of hand holding on setup and configuration.
That said - since this is a standard IP PoE Dahua OEM equipment there is plenty of threads and how to's ( see the cliff notes in the ipcamtalk wiki ) to help you get this setup.
IF you install this properly, you should expect the cameras to last a fairly reasonable amount of time.
Just remember to bench test everything right away to see if anything is DOA or has a focus issue. ( Example, sometimes the screw on lens in the camera needs a slight turn into or out
- not hard to do yourself if needed. )
Hi Petey,
Color Night Vision = fluffy marketing term
If these exact same cameras were sold by Lorex they would call them
"4K Color Night Vision" cameras.
Also if you really need good low light cameras augment this kit with a few Dahua OEM 2MP starlight cameras ( see ipcamtalk for recommended vendors on that )
Hi Steve,
If you're going the NVR route, pair the OEM of the cameras with the OEM of the NVR and ensure they support the same features. Otherwise, not all features maybe supported if mixing NVR brands.
Best in this case to go for the larger 16 channel NVR kit.
( note - on the ipcamtalk threads the 16 channel NVR was mapped to the Dahua OEM NVR4216-16P-4KS2x model )
Hi Toolmaker
Yes. Get Dahua OEM cameras to go with this.Go to ipcamtalk and look for reviews from the members, lots of nice options.
Also note, domes can be problematic outdoors - and PTZs are better when there is an operator behind it to control it.
Hi Pabla,
Remember to go to ipcamtalk and get advice there or other forums - while the hardware is good - at these price points I'm willing to do more DIY learning.
Hi 2devnull,
Indeed, significantly more powerful IR LEDs. Actually 2 IR LEDs turnout to be better than the ring of 36, the ring of 36 tend to make a "hot spot" and attract more bugs in front of the lens. The larger IR LEDs when turned on will also attract bugs - and thus spiders to catch those bugs. If you keep it in color mode the IR leds will not turn on - so that helps with the bug issues if you have enough light for the camera to function in color at night. You can also get an external IR illuminator to help with keeping the bugs and spiders from interfering with your video images.
