In terms of the deal itself, this is quite expensive for MiFi cables. Monoprice recently had a deal in which you got two for the same price. They were also braided and MiFi certified.

For someone with a touchpad as their avatar this statement can be misconstrued. Lightning cables will still be relevant for the millions of people who have Iphone X and below. Not to count all the ipads prior to the newest one.

USB C to lightning cable third party MFi certification has happened but won't be seen by companies like Anker till 2019. I purchased the ridiculously priced Apple version and it charges significantly faster. It's worth it to be able to charge my laptop and iOS devices all from the same block.

I doubt Apple would change over to USB-C now as Lightning makes them a lot of royalty money. No one knows for sure, but if I have to guess, Apple will update the Lightning spec to allow more bandwidth.
