This is the best price ever on Amazon according to CamelCamelCamel.

I'd buy one if I didn't already have one that has been a work horse for the past 4 years.

Adjustable thermostat allows you to dry different foods at proper temperatures (95º-160º F)
Powerful Top Mounted Fan. 600 watts of drying power. 120 Volt
Comes with 5 trays, but is expandable to 12 trays. (Trays are 13 1/2" in diameter)
Opaque Vita-Save exterior helps block harmful light which destroys nutritional content of food being dehydrated
Patented Converga-Flow drying system forces air down the exterior pressurized chamber (not through the trays). The hot air is forced horizontally across each individual tray, converging on the core for fast, even and nutritious drying. No flavor mixing and no need to rotate trays
Made in the USA of Global and Domestic parts

I bought this a couple weeks ago, and I've been a little disappointed in it. The first day I got it I had some ghost peppers I needed to dry so I prepped the peppers and placed it in my garage overnight the next morning the peppers turned out perfect. I was so excited I decided to go get some different fruits to try dehydrating them since I usually shy away from dried fruit at the store due to extra sugar being added in most cases. I got some raspberries, blueberries, Strawberries, and bananas. Prepping the strawberries and bananas took some time since you have to slice them thin enough to dehydrate and placed everything in the dehydrator at the recommended temperature and let it sit. It ended up taking roughly 15 hours for the strawberries and 30 hours to finish the raspberries, blueberries, and bananas. The fruit turned out great except the bananas they just didn't taste right or seem like they weren't dried completely so I will try a different method for those next time. The dried out fruit also doesn't make as much as you would think $15 of fruit yielded less than 3 small sandwich bags worth of dried fruit which you go through rather quickly.

I haven't tried jerky in it yet, but I've read many reviews saying the temperature doesn't get up to what it says it does, and may cause some concern for jerky especially poultry. I tested this with my temperature gun and it appears as though it does run cooler than what's specified on the unit. Also the unit doesn't hold quite as much as you think it does. If I got into dehydrating more I would strongly consider getting an Excalibur unit instead. It's 3x the price as this when it goes on sale, but it has a timer, accurate temperatures (based off reviews), and more space since it's box shaped instead of a cylinder.

I'm still tinkering with it, but at this point I don't know if the value is there for me. It's a lot of work for not much in return, but for my batches of peppers it was amazing.

This was on SD about two weeks ago for $8 more.

I've been eyeing this for awhile, and finally grabbed one.

This was what I expected
I tried drying some fruit over night and put it to the rerecorded temperature
In the morning the fruit was just sticky and stuck to the trays
I let it dry for a few more hours and it did not even dry them anymore than they were
Thought it would be a little stronger

What are you drying? I dry apples all the time, and they come out great. Also, dried strawberries are amazing (slice them thin).

Yes, and most everything else. This should be front page. Must have for the serious backpacker who likes to control their own diet.

Have used it to try fruits and purees to make your own fruit roll ups and works amazing. Does take a long time depending on the water content but it's one of those "set and forget" appliances. Have not tried jerky in it but it's capable of that too. Great find on the price.
