For future reference know that all websites screw up the weight, and even dimensions, on laptops constantly. I can guarantee you that 7.3lbs is the shipping weight (laptop + ac adapter + documentation + packaging and box).

Starting weight for the Inspiron 15 5570 is actually 4.45lbs and that's what this model config is. If you get a configuration with a SSD and HDD, then that bumps it up to 4.8lbs. When looking at oddball weight specs on sites, generally there are only two things that will change the weight between configurations of the same model significantly - storage (1x SSD, 1x HDD or 1x SSD + 1x HDD) and batteries.
Seems like a solid deal. Only looks to be missing the thinner bezels and fingerprint scanner found in updated models, which are nice to have, but not necessarily deal breakers for a reasonably priced laptop. Tempted to pick one up for the office.

That does sound wrong. Dell's site unhelpfully says "Starting at Weight: 4.85 lbs," but what could really add weight to this system? Even an HD wouldn't be much.

And the battery is listed on Dell as "42 WHr, 3-Cell Battery, Integrated," with no variants, so that's not it.

This general model is available with 1366 x 768. Could 1080p actually be 2.5lbs heavier?!

Need to grab a few laptops... This or the HP Pavilion 15z 1w/ AMD Ryzen 3 configured to match and exact same price? Major difference is the HP has 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA whereas this has the SSD. Primary use for cam-modeling (live-streaming).

If it were me I'd go for the ASUS and do a SSD upgrade. It's going to be sold out very soon though (already sold out on BestBuy.com) so you might need to be quick about making up your mind.

I was considering but I've had such bad luck with Asus the past few years with bad screens and dog-slowness.I'm also hesitant to go below 15" because the girls need the screen real-estate for multiple chat windows and scaling resolution too much is difficult to see at a distance. I think 15" minimum is preferred.

Edit to add comparison..

Staples has this HP at Black Friday. Any recommendations whether I should get this Dell or wait for Staples Black Friday?

Tough call. For $50 you get a better processor if that's needed. But you're getting a much slower HDD, but also gaining some flash-memory. I think speed-wise it might be a wash. I do like the aesthetics of the HP A LOT more. Smaller bezels around the screen, and overall form-factor, better speakers too.
