For the guys asking about socket sets in general, I recommend saving your money. You would know if you need a socket set. If you aren't sure, you don't really need one. When the day comes when you do need one, ask a friend or buy whatever is on special at the time.
Being a handy guy who's done lot's of auto work, my opinion is that this set is lacking. It won't be good enough to work on cars. Well it could get you halfway there I suppose but there is no 3/8 metric sockets in the mid range 13,14,15, and the only 15mm in the set is a wrench. Japanese cars will need a 14mm and many suspension components on US cars use a 15. I'd recommend a complete set of sockets for auto work or you'll likely have to do some things the hard way.

Buying a complete set of anything get's you started with a base you can build on. This can't be built on because it's a molded set that can't hold more tools.

My advice. Buy a $20-30 3/8 drive socket set. A good indication of how complete the set is, is by looking at the skipped socket sizes for milimeters. Try to find a 3/8 socket set that includes metric socket sizes 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 21 mm. Then you can build on it.

Dealt is the the new Craftsman. They are heavier but the kind of heavy you want on a tool that will last. I love my smaller set i got on amazon. This is a great deal imo.

Can a guy get a decent set without all the filler Allen wrenches and drill bits that make it a 1000 piece set? Just a no bullshit 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 set with a decent case! These Allen wrench throw in's are driving me nuts. /rant

With that said.. thanks for posting OP. I'll continue my search for a strong set without the fluff. I just have so many Allen wrenches already. This is the closest thing that I have found with a bare-bones set but even then it comes with useless bits..!!

How is the case/how easy is it to get sockets in and out?

I own a socket set by Stanley, and while the heads & tools themselves are pretty solid, getting them out of the plastic case is an absolute nightmare. I literally have to use a small flat head screwdriver to pry them out. I'm thinking about replacing it just for a better experience getting them out...
