Each watch is hand made and it takes 1-2 years to do that
Just to design a watch they take minimum 3 years
They only produce 50K watches a year. Compare that to Rolex that produces 1 Million for example.
They are made to outlast you, your kids, you grand-kids and their grand-kids. There is a reason their tag line is "You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely take care of it for the next generation."
There is history of company in general, dating back to 1800's
It is kinda like asking why is Rolls Royce so expensive.
