Can someone explain what operating system in 2087 might actually use even a quarter of these threads?

It was $388 CAD on amazon.ca not long ago, I ended up not buying, as the rest of the system would be very expensive. Still waiting for the new Ryzen 7nm early next year Big Grin

There is also the 32-core Ryzen for $1.7~k or so. But most people just use it for video editing/encoding or as a hypervisor, such as with: https://unraid.net/

Example use-case scenario for me with unraid is to run windows 10 for games and office (4 cores or so), windows server 2012 for quickbooks and other small business stuff (2 cores), ubuntu for data mining with python, maybe save up for a voip card, and run it all behind pfsense with it as a guest. Monitoring will mean more or less cores for a distro or run more linux distros. The thing for me is to not worry about getting anything done while a distro is rebooting.

Is unraid the only thing needed for this?
