Still, can't hurt, I suppose - since I was interested...
In 4 1.
I'm a Plex Pass lifetime member, and I still jumped on this. I just see Plex going in completely the wrong direction these days.

Thanks and yeah as I'm reading Plex vs emby, I remembered why I used it. I have a TV with Roku built it and it did not play the audio in any of the streams. Had to use emby to transcode.
Luckily, the Roku streaming is free but on my TV with Android built in, I couldn't use it without paying. Tried Plex and both worked. I started using Plex before it discontinued the $75 lifetime plan but at that time I didn't have a need. Still don't really but I'm really considering installing this to try it for a few hours to see if I want to get this deal.

My initial search shows terrible reviews for emby apps. E.g., fire TV app literally has 3 star rating. Android app from Google play has 3.8 star rating with just 3k rating count. Compare that to Plex on Google does which has 4.4 star with 135k ratings. It doesn't give me a lot of confidence to see those terrible reviews. I am a professional software developer and I know Android app development is lot easier than developing the service. So, if their app is that bad what could be my expectation about their backend.
Also how does the DVR functionality on emby compare to Plex?
And what are the strengths of emby compared to Plex? Given that Plex lifetime is 120, I could care less the $99 sale.
Can it be used instead of the homerun service for scheduling, dvr setting, etc...
I have a shield tv. I have a homerun quatro on its way from the black friday google Express deal.
I have a hard drive and antenna to hook to the shield/homerun.
I noticed the description mentioned scheduling dvr. If I can get this for lifetime instead of monthly homerun service, I'd rather do that.
Thank you!
I just got Shield and was planning to set up Plex hopefully with Plex pass
Emby integration on Shield would allow it to serve as server?
Anything else to lean towards onevs another on Shield
Thanks
Same here I think I donated $25 back in early days. Got me a lifetime membership.
