Another day another Google Fi promotion

https://fi.google.com/signup#device

A Free Month of Fi Promotion Terms

Limited time offer applies to any new Fi customer who signs up for Google Fi between 11/29/18 12:00 AM PT through 12/16/18 11:59 PM PT and activates their compatible device that was not purchased at fi.google.com by 12/31/18 11:59 PM PT. See eligible phones here [google.com].
To qualify for the service credit, activation must be for full service (i.e., activation does not apply to a data-only SIM). Afterwards, a service credit will be applied to the customer's Fi account. Customer will receive an email notifying them of the service credit after all terms and conditions have been satisfied, and the credit will be applied to the customer's bills around 3 days after activation. If the account is paused, credits will only appear once the account is reactivated. The service credits can cover a single subscriber's unlimited talk and text, data usage, and taxes and fees for one month. The service credits cannot cover international calling, regular speed data after 15 GB per month, device financing, device protection, group plan member costs, or activity Google Fi deems excessive, abusive or fraudulent.
New Google Fi users must transfer (port-in) their current personal number over to Google Fi during sign up. The number being transferred must be currently active and have been active with the previous carrier and the user since 8/29/18 12:00 AM PT. Re-opened accounts do not qualify as new accounts.
Limit one per person. This offer is only available for U.S. residents ages 18 and older, and requires Google Payments and Google Fi accounts. Unless otherwise stated, this offer cannot be combined with other offers. Offer and service credits are not transferable, and are not valid for cash or cash equivalent. Void where prohibited.

Feels like a free month of T-Mobile service if you don't have a true Fi compatible phone.

Be a good time for someone to try it and experience the international benefits of Google Fi.

Port in required, and the port in line must be active since 8/29 (not sure how they can confirm the latter) ... so not as easy as it sounds

Hmm, going to Canada in a little over a month. This could be a quick way to use my spare phone to get some free service while abroad for the week.

still waiting on a $10/mo price drop before I jump ship from T-Mobile, Fi is getting close but not quite there. I have all the international benefits from T-Mobile as part as my One Plus Promo from last year with $225 bill credits and some other 20% monthly discount. T-Mobile has been by far the best service I have ever used and very easy going customer service that doesn't shoot you down when you demand something.

A true SDer rather deal with crappy Sprint network than paying more on phone that mainly stay on WiFi 90% of the time. Google can make their pricing affordable but they chose not to.

i'd be back on sprint if I wasn't limited to their devices and it actually worked in my place, which is right in the middle of the city.

In my area the only service worse than t-mobile is Sprint. I'm not sure if they can even combine and beat AT&T or match Verizon. Since I don't have a fully compatible Fi phone I guess I'll never find out.

I wonder if they'll come back out with another better deal before Christmas. This is obviously nowhere near as good as yesterday, but bla bla ba time machines bla bla bla....

Maybe if iPhone adoption rates aren't as high as they hope they'll post a higher incentive to try to lure more people over.

There is absolutely no reason to use them unless you have one of the fully compatible phones that can hop carriers or you need temporary international service. Their prices suck compared to other MVNOs.

If your area has good Tmobile coverage, no need for carrier hopping capabilities. I know some force connection to tmobile bc sprint doesn't allow for simultaneous voice and data usage. Pricing structure is also a reason to consider FI with the pay for use data model.
