Just the expansion, pretty much a standalone.
It's standalone and can be played without the first game.

Does this include the original game or just the expansion?

If it's like the original, it's kind of like a hybrid. You aren't actively clicking to hack and slash, but you actively select skills to use/chain while the AI does normal attacks to hack away. Check out youtube videos for an idea. It's actually pretty fun.

It's a little more active than the first Xenoblade Chronicles, but you also aren't scrolling through your list of attacks so it averages out to be very similar.

There really isn't a great analogue I can think of but it's a little bit like the active time battle system Squaresoft introduced back in the '90s. Except you can move around to avoid some attacks if I'm remembering right.

It's probably going to be a cold day in hell before the season pass for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 goes on sale on the eShop, so this is actually not a bad deal even if you already own the game, assuming you want a physical version of this.

In case anyone didn't know, the season pass for XC2 is only $30, but requires the base game.

I think best thing about this physical copy is resale value. If you buy the digital version you can get any money back...

Have not played Torna yet, but I am 80 hours deep into the base game and bought the Season Pass yesterday (which is basically this package but $10 cheaper because it requires the base game).

While this looks to be a good deal- I would also recommend taking a look at the base game if you haven't yet, which is on sale as of the time of this writing for approximately $41. If you end up loving the game like I did, then you can pick up the Season Pass for $29,99.

Of course, the above is a moot point if you want to collect physical cartridges - but food for thought nonetheless.

Is this game like the original. The ps1 xeno was good. Or is this not that game?

Anyone know if they plan on making a GOTY edition?
