Actually MDF is quite durable. High-end audio speakers that cost thousands of dollars are made from MDF. It is more about the overall design of the product and its construction that matters.

they use mdfbecause of its uniform density, easy to customize shape, extremely flat surface, vibration and resonance dampening. NOTHING to do with strength at all.

I said durable, I never said anything about strength. But how would you meet all the requirements of good speaker design with a material that was weak?
