I wouldn't read PDF as-is on this. Scrolling and zooming on e-ink is horrible since e-ink inherently has bad refresh rates. If it's mostly text, convert PDFs using the email method or Calibre.

Than a tablet? Yes. Than a book? No.

"Battery Life: A single charge lasts up to six (6) weeks, based on a half hour of reading per day with wireless off and the light setting at 13. Battery life will vary based on light settings, wireless usage. Audible audiobook streaming over Bluetooth will reduce battery life."

E-ink only uses power when you change the ink cell status , so it would depend on how much you make the screen change. If you're zooming in and out of PDFs and forcing the screen to refresh over and over, then probably not. If you're reading books, especially if you turn down/off the frontlight, 20-22 hours is within range.

No. The only thing you really need Wi-Fi for is to download ebooks and your email-converted files. Otherwise turn it off to save battery. Don't use the forever-experimental internet browser because, again, e-ink refresh rates.

Uncomfortably.
Interesting, the reviews are indicating that you may be better off holding onto your current Kindle.
I just initiated a trade-in for my older (6th gen) Kindle Paperwhite, and I was able to get an additional 25% off (Total before tax of $67.49)

Heads up, I noticed 25% off upgrade trade in option for old kindles. Not sure if it is 25% off $89.99 but it looks promising.

Being waterproof is the last amd only thing I always wanted a Kindle to have. After this one how can they improve it further?

They can always make it cheaper, thinner, or have better battery life

I have Samsung galaxy tab A 10" to read my pdf ebooks. How good is kindle paperwhite for reading pdf? i heard you can't change text size but you can zoom in and scroll around the page which is similar to how you would read on tablet. Is the screen better to read on in sunlight? will battery hold charge for a month if I only read 1 hour a day for 5 days a week? do i need to connect to wifi to use dictionary while i'm reading? can this kindle fit a size 29 waist front jean pocket? what about the back pocket?

E-ink only uses power when you change the ink cell status [from black to white or vice-versa], so it would depend on how much you make the screen change. If you're zooming in and out of PDFs and forcing the screen to refresh over and over, then probably not. If you're reading books, especially if you turn down/off the frontlight, 20-22 hours is within range.

Anyone upgraded to this model?
I'm on the original paperwhite, top review isn't glowing in comparison. Other opinions?

I have had the Paperwhite 2 and 3. I bought two of the new ones (these waterproof ones) and love them. I might even get a third one. Idk why so many negative reviews. Mine work great.
