Freeup Mobile's existing free plan of 500 talk/text with 100 MB data has been changed to now 1000 talk/text with no data. Great for people who just need to talk and text. The 1000 allotment is any combination of talk/text. Runs on the AT&T network.

Are you saying existing plans will be changed? My plan hasn't renewed yet, but it still shows 500 talk/text + 100MB 4G LTE.
[Update] I can go through "Change my plan" and select the 1000 talk/text + unlimited WiFi hotspot access.
When I sent a referral though, the offer for the recipient is 1000 talk/text + unlimited WiFi hotspot access by http://spotwifi.com/ I wanted to check coverage, but I can't get the mapping page to show me coverage for any city except San Diego which it starts on. Anyone else?

To see wifi coverage map, try zooming (way) out, drag map to area of interest, and then zoom in.

All the Spot WiFi map shows in the Phoenix area are stores/restaurants that offer their own wi-fi. Nothing special.
UPDATE... Spot, in itself, is worthless:
"About SpotWiFi
SpotWiFi was created to help address the growing constraints and costs associated with cellular bandwidth. We wanted the user to have a frustration free experience connecting to as many reputable WiFi hotspots as possible using their mobile devices. As we developed the app, it grew into something much more than a simple tool to automate connecting to free WiFi.
SpotWiFi dynamically manages your mobile device's WiFi, connecting to hotspots in range of your device. It then automatically transmits mobile data using the hotspot instead of a cellular connection. The user benefits by saving cellular data and having a better connections. The app also helps the user track data usage with data statics view that shows WiFi and cellular usage. For further app features, please visit either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

It is weird, I just renewed 20 minutes ago and it still came back with the 500/500 100mb.
Also, the second sim I just activated tonight, 500/500 100mb plan as well.
Unless you initiate a plan change yourself, it appears (for now) to renew same plan you originally had.
To get the 1000/0 plan, go to "Manage your plan/Change my plan" and check the 1000/0 plan box. New plan will start at beginning of new billing cycle.
For your newly-activated SIM, that IS weird! Maybe it grandfathered you into old plan, if you activated on same email address as an original 500/100 plan.

No big deal, though.

Completely free but you have to renew every month
Service works great and is nice to have a real cell number for promotions, Lyft, Uber, etc... Case in point, the free sim got me a free pizza today
