They work AiMesh.
Some say perfectly fine.. some have issues with latest firmware etc..
Most positive then negative. AND you can hardwire them

FYI, still shows in stock.
I already bought one thinking about getting a second but... I saw some mixed reviews and that was really the point of my question - if it had been over-exaggerated or truly problem.

when you say mostly positive then negative does that mean that it degrades over time

Btw, hardwire ethernet not really an option in my situation

I got so lost with all the various instructions that lose parts and pieces over time.
I don't think I've ever used putty so I'm a complete newb.

My 2 yr old cellspot router is on stock FW and I'ld like to get it to asus so I can run aimesh with my other 68u
is this the definitive guide? Does someone want to be my mentor on this?
I made this one since after going through the process (with the help of @Hawbgobblin). I felt the other ones were too complicated and kind of spread out, though some people do prefer more info details on what each command does and why and how. It does include everything needed from the beginning.

feel free to message if you have issues.

Ordered a few minutes ago.

Got "Thank you for ordering from T-mobile!" email virtually immediately (9:33AM PST). This email had no real information except for the 'Let's Talk 1-844-214-9880' phone number.

Got "T-Mobile Order Confirmation" email 3 minutes later (9:36AM PST). This email has an order number, a link to check order status, and an 'Estimated Ship Date'. For me, the 'Estimated Ship Date' is 1/30-2/1.

*Also, got "Your T-Mobile Service Agreement" email 3 minutes later (9:36AM PST). It went to Spam folder, so I didn't see it at first. In my email inbox, this email came 2nd, before the "T-Mobile Order Confirmation" email. It includes link to 'Service Agreement', the order number, link to order status, and billing information.

Updated my post to show that I got a total of 3 emails. The 2nd (Your T-Mobile Service Agreement) went to my Spam folder and came at the same time/slightly before the "T-Mobile Order Confirmation" email.

Fry's sells long Ethernet Cat5/Cat6 cables for cheep. I have a 50' I believe it is.. Running from a Bedroom to Living Room to hardwire the TV. (because the distance would weaken the 5 ghz WiFi to it and I don't want 2.4 on it.)
Then again, I'm to lazy to connect the 2nd router on ; /
That and I have been fighting a 60 day notice to evacuate. ( Which my lawyer won).

Doesn't support the full speed via Ethernet. I had trouble getting over 400mbps when my FiOS was wired direct. Have to use the fios router to get internet in to house then use this for wifi only.
Specs [asus.com]RJ45 for 10/100/1000/Gigabits BaseT for LAN x 4, RJ45 for 10/100/1000/Gigabits BaseT for WAN x 1
Make sure you have a good Ethernet cable.

Beware, if you have been running stock TMobile firmware all this time, you probably have automatically updated to TM 374.3199 firmware and a locked CFE. So you would need to use an entirely different procedure up til step #8 in Johnny2x4's instructions - the same as if you'd been rolled-back by ASUS.

You might want to try this: http://asustmac1900.sploitworks.c...2018).docx

It's a cable run from a Verizon tech from the ont to the router. With the FiOS router I get 900+ consistently. Swapped for the TMobile and get less than 500

I had no issues. That said, this has not replaced my FIOS gateway router yet though.

BUT, with this router with wired backhaul hooked into my gigabit switch, I get 800Mbps+ in Verizon speed test, 600Mbps+ in other speed tests when I wire my laptop into this router.

My order status is now showing backordered after having had an estimated ship date. Can someone else check their order status?

Yes mine is set up this way and works as yours does. If you go direct to the TMobile you won't get the same speeds. It's a beast router and I may get a 2nd for the mesh. I'm just stating what I've dealt with in trying to replace my dios.
