Thanks much, DD. You are the man.

Any way you could tell me where that coupon is so I can get a real copy of it? I tried printing that pic you posted but I can't get it to come out looking proper and my HF is really strict on coupon stuff.
That last run was pretty limited. Try Motor trend (someone here gets motor trend?) Road N Track and the 2 Diesel (world, power?) magazines

I saw 3 ton stands in my Car and Driver for $15. I'll check Motor Trend for the 6 ton stands when I go in tomorrow. Is there a simple way to attach a picture from my phone?

I bought this welder for $89.99 a couple years ago. It's great, I fixed my tractor cutting deck with it. But, the wire that comes with it spatters everywhere. So get some Lincoln wire at Home Depot. Welding with it gets alot easier with better wire. Other than that, it works very well, and is capable of some really strong welds. I practiced welding on old lawn mower blades. It ran some decent beads too...

I've got the 6" one without the light that goes on sale for around $30. It's ok but it's pretty weak compared to the no name 6" that I have at work. The guards around the wheels are so big that it's very hard to grind on a large object like a lawnmower blade. The clear plastic safety shields wouldn't even bolt on to my grinder. They were missing some piece so I tossed them.

I have yet to change out one of the stones for a wire wheel, and I'm not sure how well it would work since you really can't put much pressure on it without bogging it down.

Would I buy it again? Maybe if I only had $30 to spend. If I had a bigger budget or planned to use it often, I would look for something better.

I also bought the universal bench grinder stand to go with it. That works alright but you need to either secure it down to a board or the floor or put some weight on it so it doesn't move around while your working or the grinder is powering down.

Thanks all for your help on the bench grinder. Any other thoughts, keep em coming.
thanx again and repped.
My brother bought one of the 6" bench grinders a few years back and decided to convert one side to a wire wheel which he bought from HF too. It didn't work out too well as either the wire wheel was way out of balance or the grinder wasn't designed to handle the difference in weight between the stone and the wire wheel. Regardless, it vibrated so bad I told him it would probably end up chucking a bearing and self destructing. He finally decided to abandon the idea for safety's sake when he was given an old Dayton mounted on a post with a truck wheel base (that one with the stone and wire wheel is like "butta"). He also has the 4 1/2" angle grinder from a few years ago by Chicago Electric but it's the model before the paddle switch. Grinding and cutting wheels seem to work fine on it but the HF wire cup wheels, at least from that time, were definitely way out of balance. You couldn't use the thing for more than a minute without almost completely losing sensation in your hand(s). We did eventually try a brand name wire cup brush on it and it worked just fine. I'm a devout HF fan but it's not uncommon to hear that many of their tools work exceptionally better with brand name accessories (such as wire brushes for grinders and blades for most of their saws). Hope this helps...

Tell you what, all these prices are live on the site as of today. The parking lot sale doesn't start until tomorrow so everything in the flyer that's eligible for the 20% Q should work. For example, the 12" Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser Guide item#98194 is showing at $119.99 and if you add the Q it's down to $95.99. Of course, if you wait until tomorrow on this then the Q wont apply (not valid for ... Parking Lot Sale Items...) Going this a.m. after the saw which I purchased last week for $119.99 with a Q and will either get the credit back on my card for the difference when applying the Q or will return the saw I bought for full credit and apply the 20% off the sale price.

Do you have a 20% off code that works on the website?

Edit: oh. 22478559 works but it doesn't work on parking lot sale items. Do you have one that does?

Technically the sale doesn't start until tomorrow so these should not show as "Parking Lot Sale Items". They would be the sale priced items online until tomorrow when the Parking Lot Sale begins. I guess this could be a YMMV...

I was able to return my 12" Compound Sliding Miter Saw and get the 20% Q applied. $95.99 for the saw and the 2 year replacement plan ($19.99) on the original was reapplied so altogether the purchase came to $115.98 OTD with 2 years plus 90 days warranty from today. I consider that a SCORE!

I have the previous iteration of this little hobby welder (this one appeared in the store roughly the same week they were clearing out the one I bought.) I think it's great! As with all the reviews on it, I'll just second that you pretty much MUST avoid using the wire that comes with it and go to HD/L to get a name brand version.

Other than that, it's awesome. I have made a number of handrails, welded some 1/8th inch strips to make landscape edging, fixed a number of fence brackets, made a couple of table bases from 1" square tubing, etc. I probably wouldn't attempt to build something mission critical to safety, but I'm also not very adventurous.

Hey man, if you find a coupon for the 6 ton jack stands for 29.99, you can just email the pic on your phone to yourself and then open the email on your computer and you'll be able to upload it and host it at imgur.com and then you can post the pic here.
