Google flights[google.com] might be better for searching these since Skyscanner doesn't show a lot of the cheaper united flights with shorter layovers.
direct, Quantus, and $500+ , that's incredible. I loved my trip using miles on United/Lufthansa and that wasn't direct. I was able to do fly to Sydney and fly back from NZ though and used a cheap tix from Melbourne to NZ.

Only the Houston ones are direct sadly, most of them have layovers, and Qantas only come up for some cities, most of these are United which is not ideal. But cheap fare is cheap fare.
