Way overpriced for a GTX 1070. Most of these laptops with RTX are out of control as well. Throwing money down the drain.

Why the down vote? This isn't a cheapo no name laptop. The thermals are great and has room for OC. Also most RTX will be priced higher than the GTX on clearance which is true but this should not discourage people looking for deals of the next best thing. A full RTX 2070 w/280W power brick can compete with a GTX 1080 laptop. Even the lower powered 2070 Max-q can surpass the 1080 max-q. But not many laptops can fit a full 1080 performance machine in a build this compact ~5lbs. It all depends on what you are looking for and yeah $2000 is a lot of money.

You left out one of the most important specifications from the title - only 5.75 lbs! Having said that, I think this is still a hard sell because of the pricing. You may recall that there was recently a Dell Alienware slickdeals frontpage GTX 1070 for only about $1,200 to $1,300. True, the weight was about 9lbs and 60Hz screen, but ignoring that, gaming enthusiasts wouldn't see paying $700 to $800 more for this laptop. The economics at $2,000 is not good when GTX systems are offered at clearance prices.

This post is mostly for people shopping for msi products who already know what they want. When I saw the beautiful GS75 announcement I wanted it immediately but was turned off from the sticker shock. If I saw a price drop of $300 or more I might reconsider. People that bench there machines will notice msi Micro Star is for rtx mobile is in the top of the list of 3DMark.

Separate topic-- how come most manufacturers don't make reasonably priced 18.4" gaming laptops? The extra screen could certainly be helpful and presumably worth the extra 1/2 to 1 lb of weight?

Also, has MSI become a laptop company of repute? About 5 years ago, they were known for motherboards, sound cards, video cards, etc. but not the entire product. I am guessing they moved up the value chain, like ASUS which makes sense. But when did they become mainstream?

MSI has been chasing the heals of Razer and Gigabyte for the crown on mobile gaming for quite some time. MSI was usually priced better competitively with performance being the main attraction. Not many people know this but MSI also offers free 1year accidental damage coverage on laptops under the warranty [msi.com]. You will see them sitting next to Alienware in Bestbuy as one of the most thinest lightest laptops. I think people were getting tired with the big chunky heavy laptops. I'm shocked Dell / Alienware are still selling 60hz screens although this year they were making them lighter to compete.

The 18.4" laptop is definitely out there for the mobile gaming enthusiast folk. Check out this MSI GT83 Titan with a Dual 1070 SLI sold on newegg [newegg.com] ($2400 after rebate). I don't know if an RTX version is coming out yet but their official landing page is here [msi.com].

Thanks for this info! Too bad the 18.4" has a niche space only in the upscale market. If the 17.3" could make it in the reasonably priced range, may the 18.4" would, if given a chance!

You know I would not rule it out. There is a new trend developing. Currently we have laptops going big screen in a small chassis. For example check out on Amazon Clevo P960ED/EF/EN. Replace last 2 letters with ED for 2060, EF for 2070 max-q, EN for 2080 max-q. It is a 15.6 chassis with a 16.1" screen! It weighs just 4.6lbs. Boutique shops are selling this model known as OriginPC EVO16-S, Metabox Prime-S 16, Aftershock Slate 15. Who is to say a 17.3" chassis won't fit a bigger 18" screen next? The 16.1" just came out.
